Don't stop at ideas for webapps. What about ideas for creating jobs or reducing environmental problems? I guess you could crank out other sites that used collective decision making fairly quickly, now that you have the template. Build a net

I was thinking of how many tons and how big the sails were on mast ships. If there was a design of a much lighter and smaller hulled ship ( catamarans have less drag ), and a much larger mast assembly, seemingly, it could power a decent siz

Even if a company misspelled a word in an email that I assumed was hand written, I would think less of that company- especially, if it was a product such as software, where precision in spelling counts. I agree with the idea that another va

I guess my reply to you would be under 'meta' because my questions to you are: What do you mean by: 'more room for nasty rules lawyering("This is not Hacker News")' ? I like your idea; how would I choose between 'information' and 'related'

One idea: disconnect the visible down-votedness of a user's comment from a user's visible karma- which seems to upset people. I often see posts regarding 'why are you down voting my comment?'. Not allowing a post to get publicly, visibly, l

I agree with only allowing upvoting as _the_ metric to measure the quality of a post or comment. All posts and comments could be recognized as 'default incoming' content or 'approaching exceptional' content. +1 for disabling downvoting.

Send the google ad link to a page with an alt phone # or alt email. You can track the calls or emails per impression that way. ( or ask new customers how they found you )

Why not write a script that checks the site from a cron job on a different server. You can have it send an email or text via twitter. Cron is a simple service. And if you can write a script that emails you or your phone, you only need to pl

That would be a good feature to be able to turn off/on in your site preferences. I would likely leave 'view usernames for comments' off. Good idea.

If you gave me the option to switch karma on/off for submissions and comments, I would likely leave both off. Leaving karma off somehow gives me confidence to contribute more. Another idea is to remove the (time 'ago). Good comments are tim
