This thread reminds me how Javas heavy GUI written in Java itself was called "lightweight" when in fact it did not feel lightweight at all on the hardware of the time.

Going to object to anything using Claude as being local. Still: this totally could be hooked up to a local LLM.

I bought the pre-order thing, but not sure what to expect - I guess to get an email at some point so I can buy it..

Think of "What opcode has the value 0x3c on the Intel 8048" as a PNG image but the LLM like a very compressed JPEG. It will only get a very approximate answer. But you can give it explicit tools to look up things.

When they get stuck, I find adding debug that the model can access helps. + Sometimes you need to add something into the prompt to tell it to avoid some approach at a point.

Same. When I was on a bit of black beach I looked on the internet and found quite a few boats had shed oil along there. Everything else was good though.

Not sure shift is working. I tried using QBASIC but couldn't type : only ; because of that. Then I tried running the program SHELL and it crashed.

Ah, flower. Useful but I always hit little holes in it, maybe next time I'll set an LLM on it and try and fix them.

Europe is made up of a lot of different countries, even in the UK there's a big difference in bus provision depending on where you are.

AIDR "Here's why this changes everything" - I am begging people to not just paste the output of LLM, the writing is so bloody turgid I can't stand it. By all means chuck a few things through and read it, but please pl

I mean.. Claude kept putting in deprecated APIs for code I was getting it to write, so I adjusted the prompt to say not to + it seemed to help.

LLMs are not AI so don't worry about it, they also never will be.

Disengage from the hype - just the autocomplete isn't going to eat the world, but it is marginally useful.

Even though I use LLMs for code, I just can't read LLM written text, I kind of hate the style, it reminds me too much of LinkedIn.

I had to stop reading about half way, it's written in that breathless linkedin/ai generated style.

Only use this stuff in devcontainers, I find it mad people give this stuff this sort of access. (I only use devcontainers for this purpose, I'm not really a fan in general)/

"Writing code is a solved problem" disagree. Yes, there are common parts to everything we do, at the same time - I've been doing this for 25 years and most of the projects have some new part to them.

This new palette should be behind a new control code, that should sort out the issue of opting in.
