I'm happy to hear you like the shirt. A friend of mine (not an OpenBSD committer) rendered this shirt with a few hundred lines of python. So... one way to get an OpenBSD hackathon shirt without actually attending a hackathon is to de

Your reasoning doesn't make much sense to me. Companies are temporary entities, even though they don't like to think of themselves as such. Companies get bought or go bankrupt. So when I buy a device which only loads signed code,

Wow, so much doubt. I'd normally link Wikipedia, but this is HN so let's just quote the spec to clear this up once and for all. Legend: PHY: think of this as "wifi radio" HT: "High Throughput" aka 802.11n "

Not really. Most OpenBSD developers run OpenBSD on their laptops which of course includes wifi. The real reasons are that 11a is still good enough for many use cases, and that OpenBSD's wireless developer department is seriously unders

There's a lot more work to do for 802.11n in future releases (e.g. MIMO support). So putting 802.11ac on the roadmap doesn't make much sense at this stage.

OpenBSD purged many webapps from its ports tree one or two releaeses ago for this reason (too many security problems to keep up with). Most such packages didn't do much else than extracting .php files to somewhere in /var/www

Some laptops check wifi minipci cards against a PCI ID device whitelist in the BIOS. For instance, all Thinkpads do this. It's seriously annoying and means that the OS must support a very specific set of devices or wifi won't work

In Germany you can get sealant applied once a year or so as part of standard health care until 18 years of age. IIRC each application takes about 15 minutes at the dentist and one hour of no eating or drinking afterwards. I had this done du
