That's not true. It's not obvious what user you have that could do sudo. Thus it does improve security. I advice the same in my book (Deployment from Scratch) and I suggest that for both the host system and containers. There is li

My setup is also kept simple and "basic." Digital Ocean, Rocky Linux or Fedora, systemd services, Bash. I usually run Rails with PostgreSQL. I might use containers more going forwards although I haven't so far. I wrote Deploy

Fedora is really great. I use it on desktop for over 10 years now. Very stable (like 2 issues in all that time). Much better than alternatives.

Not true. GNOME is well used and liked. Personally I think it's the best thing that happened to Linux.

How Linux Works is a good one. If someone is looking for a bit of Linux but with connection to deploying web application, I made a book like that[0]. [0] https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=29540808

I like what Rails offers. I like it to the point that I am now creating a SaaS template[0] that packs all of Rails has to offer. That includes using frameworks like Active Storage, features like CurrentAttributes or defaults like Minitest.

I get an Elixir job offer on LinkedIn at least every two weeks. It's niche but if you want to work with it, recruiters will find you. If you already work with Elixir, I have couple of posts that might be helpful[0]. [0] https:/&#

Since I am now finishing my own SaaS boilerplate for Rails[0], it's interesting to me to see the choices and focus one's make. Py on the front-end is an interesting one. And a nice logo btw! [0] https://businessclasskit

It's not a really apple to apple kind of comparison. MRSK won't handle your load balancer, SSL, etc. Btw if you are interested in Rails config for Fly.io, I have one: https://businessclasskit.com/docs/how-to-d

I use twitter ( https://twitter.com/strzibnyj ) and I have a blog ( https://nts.strzibny.name ) but I don't think you have to market yourself this way per se at all. But it's 100% helpful.

I kinda agree. I also suggest you don't need let's say infrastructure-as-code for a single VM deploy; just go click it in the provider's console and automate the important bits (VM setup, deployment tasks), etc.

There are cheap virtual machines that are good enough for most. In my book Deployment from Scratch I make a case that just a little bit of Bash gets you pretty far. There is also nothing wrong with Dokku (we used it at one startup) or Capis
