My understanding was that if you only needed a vps for five days then you're only charged for five days. Their prices are given as monthly but they measure your usage daily.

The idea behind salting is that you expand the possible options to the point where rainbow tables can't be precomputed. The characters comprising your users usernames would likely be a smaller set than the characters you would use for a ra

It looks like spam to me. The OP has no comments just three submissions for different services offered by ipinfodb.com and then this submission which is a freshmeat project offering an API for a ipinfodb.com web service.

I'm having a hard time figuring out why /could/ hasn't been replaced with /am/. Apparently you can make the linked to wind generators for $100 so you're only looking at $200 total investment.

Ben also maintains a blog at http://www.badscience.net/ My understanding is that the editors at The Guardian give him a lot of freedom but there are still items published on his blog which don't make it into his column.

Agree. I've only recently taken a look at live maps but I'm very impressed by the bird's eye feature. I still use google maps as my default but I sometimes find myself switching. That being said it's one thing liking a feature when you've

It is very nice. It doesn't include everything perfectly, seems to have problems with wikipedia articles and the crawler seems to have been banned from vimeo, but it is still my preferred starting point. I've actually used it as the starti

It's difficult to give a scope of the possibilities. An autonomous 'remote control' car has been mentioned above. Other types of robots. Musical instruments. Burglar alarms. Take a look at the exhibition section of the arduino forum: h

These numbers just don't make sense. Rounding the population of India to 1 billion the implication is that each person made over 8000 requests. Which works out to 1 request every 10 seconds. What I think they've done is taken the peak val

Thanks for posting that. It addresses one of the questions I had. Namely, why use a line chart if you have only two points?

I'm not convinced by that. Sea water would be the logical ballast and I realise you can't have it sloshing about around the crews' feet but I don't think it would be too difficult to have a system of bags along to hull of the boat connecte

I'm surprised that they scuttle these boats after a single trip. I realise that they cost a small percentage of the cargo but it still seems wasteful.

Does anyone know what the power source for this is? "Its rechargeable 100 Volt ACDC power source will run for five hours for normal activity." To me that reads as an AC-DC converter which makes little sense for a battery. The cyberdyne web

I don't agree with your statement that, "There are just too many ways that we know exist for it not to happen. It's inevitable." There are a lot of ways we think might work. That is no guarantee that we'll get any of them to actually wo

Just because we may be adapted to long distance running doesn't mean it will necessarily boost your, or my, quality of life or life expectancy. By either measure we're a lot better off now than we were when we had to run down our own food.

I was under the impression that a work around had been found for that but as I'm unable to find a tutorial or any discussion I could have imagined it. Having to strip the line numbers out is a real pain. I agree totally with you on that.

The result really isn't any better than what most blogs have. Yes it's highlighted and yes there is a horizontal scroll bar at the bottom to accommodate long lines but that seems fairly standard today.

Reading the title my biggest concern was low efficiency but 80% actually seems quite good. There is still the issue of how much energy you need to expend supplying CO2 but as you'll be producing relatively pure CO2 when you burn the methane
