Because this is not what the VC wants. The VCs are diversified across many startups and frankly make most of their money from tail event startups in their portfolio (e.g. Uber / Facebook). Since they don't know which startup will

Very interesting. It looks like RUST is the only tech that has strong demand. Good thing you can't learn it in 2 weeks (or 2 months for that matter)

Yes. I think that the first incidence was mongo db and AWS, where AWS offered mongo db as a service.

Not sure what the seller would sell without the makers. Do you think that somebody sold anything to 100M users? The above is correct if you are IBM or SAP, not in the case of open AI.

Not sure what do you mean by aggressive compiler checks. Do you prefer bugs?

This is what happens with a 5% interest rate. Apparently, you cannot sustain a money-losing venture (like Uber) for too long.

I think its about internet real estate. I.e. eyeballs / user to track. If chatgpt can steal eyeballs from google or facebook (something that Bing has tried with no success for the last 10 years), it is existential treat to google or fa

You need to program every day , at least 3 hours. Its like any other skill. Yes, you will be slower probably, but you must train.

Maintenance of software created by gen ai. As companies delegate mode software dev to gen ai, they would lack the experience of developing software (or lack the budget). This means that there will be ton and ton of work for real developers

Are you a software developer? There will be a huge demand for fixing the bugs that the AI will create. Also, what happen if the AI generated system need a new feature, who will create it, the AI?

Its all about interest rates, the rest is irrelevant. ChatGPT is very hyped. Also, you are not competing with new talent, unless you are entry level. My assumption is that by next summer, interest rate will go back down to 1.5% (the long te

The problem with AI such as GPT4 is training data. As it usage increases, most of its training data will be data generated by GPT4, hence creating a positive feedback loop. This would actually increase the value of human knowledge workers.

what do you mean "demand profit"? Last time I check rent is not free, food is not free, bus ticket is not free. No reason why software should be free. Open source was invented by big co as a "marginalized your complement"

You do not compete with tech workers, you compete with developers. More specifically, you compete with developers at your level of exp. More specifically, you compete with developers at your level of exp and field of expertise. Those layoff

But this is not correct. The AI exist because it was stole the work of the original artists (and combined them somehow). You argument is correct if the AI could come up with an original work which would compete with an artist. But the AI wo

So let say that the AI will generate (not sure how) 100K app. Now there is req change (new feature), who will add it ? the AI? I would extrapolate from copilot, since software does not scale linearly. 100LOC << 1000LOC << 1000

So try scikit learn. Deep learning has no use on tabular data , which is 99% of the business use cases.

How can you ship something that you do not know anything about, isn't this unethical. What happen if there is a bug in the calculator , are you going to ask the AI to fix it?

You need to separate creativity from logic. One is subjective the other one is objective. To create something objective you need to understand the current world state, and this AI does not understand it. I.e. this AI (might) work if he had
