Go for Cisco. I did a part-time internship with them last semester and I had a blast. Lots of smart people - you'll definitely learn a lot.

If you're good at python, the One Laptop per Child project is a good place to look. I've been developing a few applications with some friends for a branch of the program that we're starting in a local school system. The os for the XO laptop

I don't know. I've had to take a lot of rigorous math, theory, and algorithms classes while trying to get a CS degree. Talking to friends at other universities, it seems to be the same story. I don't get the feeling like I'm a special case.

That's not really something I could answer at this point. I would never put my faith in a language that I haven't hacked around in.

I think if anything, its more of a scale. On one side you have people who do it purely as a career, and on the other side you have people who do it purely out of passion, but I think for a lot people it's a mixed bag. I love learning about

I feel the same way about at least one or two of my courses every semester. Case in point - I have my linear algebra final tonight, I know what I need to be studying and how to study for it, but I just can't make myself go to the library.
