A compiled microkernel can restrict, I agree. But if you want to restrict, why would you do a microkernel. It's much easier to justify with a monolith. One big point of making a microkernel as opposed to making a monolith is that you

Where did I mention microservices? How does the fact current microkernel OSes are being distributed using a monolithic model imply my point is nonsense? A real microkernel OS with stable interfaces would mean its developers do not want cont

Monolithic systems allow their authors much greater control over software that runs on computers.

Is this tech meant for developers' needs only, or can regular, already existing PHP websites (e-shops...) somehow take advantage of it as well?

Sadly true... Maybe in a few years, if it gets popular enough, and the key decisionmaker gets wooed into allowing it.

I tried the same in my Linux terminal emulator, and it took 0.2s, when I added colors, 0.3s. That's 100x faster - maybe diff in VSCode means something different than running diff and printing the output? Did you include the time needed

Editors don't get made in Rust because people want better memory safety in an editor. They're made in Rust because people like Rust, and the Rust trademark makes anything associated more cool, no other language has reached such a

Who uses libvirt with anything else than qemu? Xen has its own much better UI tools, like the xl toolstack, or xcp-ng with Xen orchestra. If you mean libvirt can provide single UI to different hypervisors, that is true, but I don't see

That's possible, but you also seem to have missed mine, which is libvirt is not great time investment if you want to learn how qemu works, or have the most flexibility and control in its deployment.

Libvirt and virt-manager are just simplified user interface to the real software, which is qemu(and KVM). They solve pretty trivial problems, like parsing config file and passing the right options to the qemu binary. Yes, they have some add

I do not think that is why they were called pirates. The term privateer seems to come from 17th century, while "pirate" is a general term for "one who attacks ships" from 14th century. Privateer / corsair is thus a

Fascinating how terms such as "pirate station" get into common language and nobody is getting a pause. Pirates are people who ransack other ships on the sea. The term has originally nothing to do with not having a license. Is a sh

Many people don't see it that way, as they outsource to Microsoft, who can't do e-mail properly and eff it up all the time. It's more of "outsource to someone else" than "who won't fuck it up".
