Can confirm, my parents had an aluminium telephone line in the UK until it failed and had to be replaced. Moot point as it's replaced with a fibre optic cable now though.

Critical national infrastructure should never have been placed in private hands, their only interest lies in minimising expenditure and maximising profits for either themselves via nice bonuses, or to the shareholders. It's never been

How does the cost of living compare? The wage in SV might be higher, but with astronomical rents etc, you might actually be better off in real terms with the German 10 months.

Folk are already using lower end cards with Stable Diffusion, even the 4GB models. My 3080 is well capable of generating 512&768 images with a high step count in under a minute, and 500 odd steps (just for fun) in around 2 minutes (or e

The temperature thing is complete nonsense, nobody uses Fahrenheit here unless we're translating for Americans. The others are a fairer point, although we do actually sell liquids in litres or millilitres, but for some things it just h

Yup, "they walked" was my answer too. Thought that was pretty common knowledge that the North Sea as it is now was formed as the ice from the last ice age melted, cutting off the British Isles into what they are now. Trawlers stil

You don't need to be of legal age to get a debit card, but you do for a credit card, hence why credit cards are often used as age verification.
