Depends what you're deploying. I use a lot of puppet to deploy openstack, which means interacting heavily with community modules for things like mysql and rabbitmq. The situation will be identical for Chef (but replace 'module

Company of Heroes 2 was released this year, so while it's true none are in active developement, one did come out very recently from a non-Blizzard source. It would be most sad if SC2 effectively killed off competition, since it's

I work on Openstack, which uses gerrit for review. We use blueprints in launchpad to do preliminary design, then reference the blueprint in the commit message, and frequently people working on patches with hacky implementations will mark it

I switched from Rdio to Spotify because the latter allows sideloading your own mp3s into your catalogue. So my Spotify includes Tool, which aren't on any streaming service. The bottom line is as long as I can buy the content instead of

95% is probably a bit high, but I empathise that while indie games are heralded as the antidote to the various malaises brought on by the big studios, they aren't everyone's cup of tea. Unity is perhaps still predominantly the dom

I can't speak for nekro23's library, but mine is ~150 games with 50 available for Mac. I don't purchase a lot of AAA games, but I can go through and list the ones that are/aren't on mac that I would say are of signi

I dumped my gaming pc for an iMac a couple of months ago as I got sick of rebooting linux > windows and back to get shit done when I wasn't playing games, and figured OSX was a good middle ground. It really depends what you're

I work as part of a mostly American dev team, but out of Sydney. We vary between having team meetings at my midnight, which includes the US East, but doesn't include the US West, or 8-9am, which can include the US West but not the east

From a hardware perspective being half and half is fine, I think the criticism of the surface is that the interface and software is optimised for neither paradigm and the device suffers as a result. Apple may well release a Mac Air with a t

I had a similar experience, with the added problem that on linux I was an xmonad user. I Persisted because I found the games I want to play are all available on OSX, which meant instead of dual booting linux + windows I could just stick wit

I dislike DRM in all of its forms, and hope that Mozilla does take a stance against having it in FF, but I agree with this sentiment. I don't want to own a movie, I want to watch it. I don't want to own music, I want to listen to

The short answer is yes, but it would be some work. Maybe someone has a product that does this, but I'm not aware of it. Openstack deployment tools are still a very active area of development for a lot of teams. If you try to do this y

We have a similar problem when deploying Openstack using puppet - all the services need to be brought up after config that sets things like the central DB and AMQP locations. It means that a deployed site will always have errors in their lo

Anecdotal, but I've found the quality of restaurant service in Australia is far below that of the US - there is little incentive for servers to do anything but the absolute minimum. I do think this is because there isn't a tipping

Ceph is still a very long way behind Lustre for streaming bandwidth, so to say it shines would be a little much. Lustre's weakness is in scaling to support large file counts, but in real deployments this can be mitigated by using an MDS ser

There are some using Ceph for the volume service who shouldn't be terribly expensive. Dreamhost for example.

Adding the missing features (email + maps) to owncloud would appear to be the neatest way to go. Then target something like the openstack API and you can move between providers pretty easily. The bit that bugs me is how to deal with rolling

If you look under features configuration there's options for turning a lot of it off. I agree that the majority probably isn't useful unless you're running without a window manager for some reason, but even just the VCS info is pretty neat.
