   Yeah, I had the same thing happen to me. It was really disappointing not to get in. The email said not to take it personally and that they try to find the best fit but it's hard not to take it personally and wonder why they didn't find you

   I dislike that this kind of discussion lumps everything in STEM as one big amorphous blob. STEM covers a lot of really diverse fields which, big surprise, means that some fields within it are doing well while others, not so much.
