Yes. The US has always been a little 'special' in the club ob western nations, in many respects. That was always cause for a certain level of mistrust, which is actually healthy. But in the broad, I would say the general perceptio

Do you have any reason to believe that you can judge it better than people doing it? Or any specific data, reference, etc.? I read that on every thread on the topic so far, usually upvoted to the top, and I wonder where this comes from.

Given that we only have ourself to compare with and we can't look into the future, I think that is looking at it based on facts. Sure, we can identify this as one of the big unknowns in the calculation, but 100 years is what we know.

In Europe many industries, including air travel are at or over capacity. Airlines operate at razer thin margins. We might see some consolidation in the market which could decrease the overhead costs, but not by much. There is simply no room

What if businesses realize that they can do without a lot of business travel? Won't that have a permanent impact on airlines at least?

Corporations just tax their profit. Persons have to tax all their income (with minimal exceptions). How is that fair?

Well, if saving bandwidth is valid a concern, then why isn't it also true for the polyfill?

I have never heard about hash function in the context of radix sort or anything similar as you describe. Wikipedia says about hash functions, that they "[S]cramble the bits of the key so that the resulting values are uniformly distribu

If lazy load isn't needed, then there is no need to apply it in the first place.

Ok, but either way, isn't that logic that browsers could apply without changes to html?

Radix sort (similar to bucket sort) groups items based on individual digits of the non-hashed values. If you hash the values before, you will end up with the data being sorted according to their hash, but they will appear almost random in t

Well, not even the postwar period was able to obsolete the wheel or democracy or houses or roads, so by that measure -- a time of suckers.

Small nitpick: radix sort has nothing to do with hashing.

Forgive my ingorance, but wouldn't that mean that the browser has to load images in the correct order? So instead of delaying the load until the image is in view, just prioritize loading based on how far up/down the page an image

I think the problem is that as soon as everyone who has the opportunity to leave the office does so, the training effect for new developers is gone. It might be better for you and your personal performance, but is it better for the company

In genereal I find the wording "debt to society" very misleading. Does one have the right to commit a crime in exchange for punishment? I would say no. Punishment should serve as deterrant and as rehabilitation where possible, oth

You make the common mistake of assuming one can scientifically prove a given nuclear plant is safe like one can prove that the square root of 2 is irrational or that carbon emissions cause warming. That is not the case and it boggles my min

I thought that the problem with air travel is not (just) the amount of CO2 emitted, but also the altitude, which makes the green house effect bigger per ton of CO2.

This is not about a trade deficit with a specific country, it is about a trade deficit with the rest of the world. It is as if you pay your neighbor kids more than you make yourself.
