I am honestly not sure why this is getting down voted. The nest thermostat does continue to work as intended when offline. Of course you won't be able to use the app while you are away to control it.

Seems like poor management. It is crazy to me that a membership based place like this could shutdown at such short notice. Expansion should have waited to see profitability. If the model didn't work in new locations, shut those down.

You miss some key products (>1B Users) Google has created completely within: Search, GMail, Maps, Calendar, etc. Many of Google's products did start from acquisitions. Though those startups can't claim all the credit. Most wou

What is your evidence that Google has "stopped innovating"? In my opinion Google is very focused on making sure that innovation doesn't stop, because if it stops they will lose.

This is a pretty ridiculous statement. Implying that software engineers make all the decisions at all the Alphabet companies is misguided. Of course each org hires area experts so that they can build products that actually solve the problem

The point of the spectrum is that everyone has some place on it, including you. To make a general statement about people that are on a slightly different part of the spectrum is a form of discrimination.

Was that really surprising? The company that builds the first self driving cars will have an easy entrance into the ride service industry.

Perhaps this makes it cleaner for Alphabet to sell equity in the other bets, as they have in Verily ( https://www.recode.net/2017/1/26/14399042/verily-health-tech... ).

There is more to it than just the 4 year vesting schedule. Such as how long the startup gives people to execute options and the amount of taxes owed if you have to execute within 3 months.
