Best phone call I've made in the past few years was canceling my ~$100 Comcast internet plan in favor of my municipality's $50 gigabit plan. A year in and haven't had so much as a hiccup in service.

Driving a few hours north to Wyoming on Saturday, and hoping to land a spot of BLM land close to the center of the path. Bringing a bunch of water, extra gas, sun shade, and a cooler of beer to wait it out a few days. I'll also be laun

There are many more Titan I complexes around the US as well, including at Beale, Larson, Ellsworth, and other AFBs in addition to Lowry.

Yeah. From the docs: > pauseWhenHidden – whether to pause playback when the tab is inactive. Default true. Note that browsers usually throttle JS in inactive tabs anyway.

This is what my city is doing. They just brought fiber to my home, and I pay $50/mo for bidirectional gigabit. I pay for it alongside my trash and water bill. (Longmont, CO)

I like it! Two feature requests: deep linking to specific cities/coordinates/whatever, and geolocating me so I don't have to use the search bar first thing.

It's difficult to know the target space needed for this rev of the device. Also, it's probably less than 30cm vertically - I'm quite sure some engineers at Tesla know the height of the charge port, even given the differences

Wow - I've seen smaller versions of that photo amid all the New Horizons releases, but I never noticed that you can actually see the volcano erupting on Io!

I totally dig it too, but I wish it counted without highlighting yellow. Neat feature, but a bit distracting.

Like, say, the video description? "I describe how I made a stop motion animation of a phonograph needle in an LP groove using an electron microscope. I also show electron micrographs of other recording media."

Like the others, net/http with gorilla packages pulled in as needed. Nginx for static files and a reverse proxy for go. Upstart, and that's about it!

Lock pick laws vary from state to state. In the vast majority of states including CA, NY and my own CO possession of a set alone is not enough to prove criminal intent. Of course IANAL and some municipalities might have their own laws. I us

The door close buttons are for when the elevator is in fire service mode. In that mode, the lift only does what the operator (a fireman) tells it to do, for good reason. If they take the lift to the fourth floor, say where a fire is, the do

I've launched a handful of latex weather balloons to near-space. They all descend on a parachute and have a target impact velocity of ~2000 feet per minute. None have made so much as a dent in the earth so far.

I had a day and a half off in DC this week during a business trip, my first visit since grade school. Of course all the museums and monuments are closed due to the shutdown, and who knows when I'll be back.

The G2 also comes in a 0.5mm and 0.38mm version in all colors. As a lefty I prefer the 0.38, but I've found the ball fails more often than the 0.5 so I usually just put up with the occasional smear.

I'm not convinced that 100KB is a great estimate on file size, but either way you're off by a few zeroes. It's not 270GB per day, it's 270TB. Even if each object were just one byte, that would be 2.7GB. 100KB is one hundred thousand bytes

What if a major retailer asked for your ZIP code at the register? This happens to me often and is much more analogous to the situation than a cashier asking where I live.
