You can't exactly predict next year's gdp with 5 variables. Retrospective analysis while accepting certain variation of error is another thing.

There are companies who make money by wasting time like that. I'm no expert in this field but from what I gather sometimes Mickey Mouse Models can help too. Economics is built on such models.

I vaguely remember there is a plugin that does multi line edits - what I never found useful. I personally would rather use :s (search-replace) for that. Regexp is your friend.

Is this a Palm branded device by TCL? Who actually made this device?

So, an Amazon warehouse works like a grocery store from back then? What is the ratio #sold goods / #human worker for Amazon and for an old fashioned grocery store?

The problem is that for many years his work was way to overrated in German speaking countries. His work also promoted the decline of sociology into irrelevance. One could argue though that his popularity was rather a symptom than the cause

IMHO he is also the best example for why this method doesn't work that well. His books lack focus. They are collection of thoughts with no mention of the sources. I say this as a trained sociologist who once was a proponent of his idea

Similar approach. I use loose a4 paper in a binder, which can be more easily scanned and ordered by project etc. later on.

Does the title comply with HN rules? BTW to use an artificial language to understand real life is like asking a Catholic priest for marriage advice.

I see they pulled their language policy from a few months ago. Good.

I wouldn't be so sure about Go. Anway, I found certain remarks somewhat irritating in this respect. I'm happy if it turns out I misunderstood something.

I still think its strange to create an OS that officially supports only 2-3 languages for development. Sounds rather 1980s to me.

What's the advantage over ifttt etc.? Unfortunately, many sites don't provide an rss feed anymore. I have never understood what makes it better to support twitter, fb etc. instead of rss. Somebody will know the answer.

VIM has a text object called block that IIRC differs from filetype to filetype. I never tried but I guess you could also overwrite the ip and ap text objects for certain filetypes if you really wanted to.

You might want to update your vim installation and check out `:help terminal`. One thing I learned last year is to keep all my notes in markdown. I don't like it, I prefer my own markup, but many apps support it, which increases its us

Yes, but the problem isn't tibble since what you're highlighting is a design choice and an argument in favor of tibble. The problem only arises when you're not aware of this design choice which is facilitated by sloppiness an

So you're ignoring that the [-function by design works differently for tibbles than for data frames. This isn't really a problem with tibble but with sloppiness in programming allowed by dynamic languages. I personally think it&#x

R has quite a few specialized libs to deal with large datasets (out of memory). Nothing keeps you from hosting the data in a DBMS and using SQL (or dplyr) to pull the data in an appropriate format.

I get that. But obviously they never programmed in a language where string to int conversion routines interpret such a number as an octal number ... which is quite common.

Cool demo. But wouldn't it be better (for your neck) to move the screen instead of moving your head? Or both? I guess sooner or later it's going to hurt the way it is implemented now.

Unless you did such a trial, you cannot be sure it actually was the drug that helped. But if everyone gets cured, such a trial should be easy to set up. Unfortunately, things are not that easy in real life. There is no miracle drug.
