In the placebo group value A is x %. You want to know if in the treatment group value is at least x + 10 %. How many people do you have to test? (Without getting into details about study design. :-) Anyway, you don't think power analys

A Nazi's wet dream. In the submitted article, they say that 10% of the data was used as test data set. I cannot find that info in the orig article. After skimming through the paper, it seems to me the reported accuracy results from the

I hope you are aware that those introductory courses give you a rather high level view of things and often hide any problematic points from you. It's like driving and only learning to know about the accelerator.

With all due respect but this is ridiculous. I guess you forgot the irony tags. Most (now famous) stoicists where governors or in high ranks. As such they were utmost conservative. Stoicism is the art of being governable despite of you thin

I don't know much about Chinese history but it seems to me that some sort of China as a unified entity existed for 1000s of years. In Europe on the other hand, borders were much more combated due to expansions of this or that empire (R

WRT julia's type system: I still don't get it. Is Julia dynamically or statically typed? Are type errors detected at compile time (or since it's jitted when loading a file) or at runtime (i.e. when the code is executed)? I pe

While these tips are good per se, in retrospect I don't think it's that a good idea to tie your muscle memory that much to a single piece of software. I'd say enjoy the cursor keys. Moving around in insert mode is ok too.

You didn't really provide enough facts to actually answer your question. In general, I'd present realistic scenarios, dilemmas etc. and talk about those. What would you do etc.?

That would be so because with R you get access to a myriad of statistical packages or because the functionality of numpy etc. is already included? IMHO the only real shortcoming is the lack of 64 bit integers, which is of course ridiculous.

I think the more interesting questions would be: - How to write a novel that is actually a worthwhile read? - Why should you invest your time into an endeavour that will most likely fail and have no significant outcome?
