How does one find a good tax accountant? I used to use one who cost around $1200/yr, but I lost trust in him for various reasons, so I do my own with TurboTax Home & Business. Probably not a good use of my time (takes 1-2 days per

While I prefer native apps, I’m fine with electron and web apps as long as the ui is good to use and to look at. Some electron apps are great to use, many have terrible UIs. But in my experience all Qt apps are ugly. I was wondering if Qt h

Has Qt improved its aethetics/appearance? My experience with Qt apps is that they have a distinctive non-native look and feel that's a bit off-putting to me.

Also, can you imagine the positive impact on health and well-being? Also, my impression is that at least in the U.S. there isn't a shortage of farmable land. It's just that most of it is used to grow corn and soybeans, and most of

Do you check app size before downloading? I know I don't, and even if I did, I'm not sure what I would do about it as a consumer. If the user doesn't care and Apple doesn't care, then the company probably isn't goin

I migrated from Adobe to Affinity years ago and have absolutely loved it. In particular the abiilty to use both vector and raster graphics in Designer is a game changer. $99 for the universal license is an amazing deal. Well done Serif!

Yeah, I think this is probably the right answer. I once worked on an iOS app that took about 5 cycles of "guess what's wrong?" -> submission -> rejection before we got it to pass. Each time, we asked "Can you just

Can someone explain why both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store give opaque explanations for rejections? Why don't they just tell developers what's wrong and what needs to be fixed instead of pointing to some broad rule

Of the 7 lightening cables I own, two of them have stopped working, and one of them only charges in only one orientation (flip it, and it doesn't work). I'm hoping that usb-c on Apple devices will be more reliable.

+1 for Affinity Designer. I actually prefer it to Illustrator because it can do both vector and raster (they call it Designer and Pixel Personas). At $55 one-time price it's very reasonable.

Most of that cost is probably in his newsletter ESP. I believe he uses ConvertKit and has around 30,000 subscribers. But I'm not sure how that math works because the ConvertKit website says the 35K pricing tier is $216 per month.

Yes. There's also a huge difference between what people want and what they are actually willing to pay for. I bet many of the people interviewd by the author would have be happy to use the product on occasion if it had been free.

To be fair, the bulk of the page load consists of large unoptimized images. My page load was 9.1 MB of which 8.1 MB were images and 446 kB was react devtools. So that means the rest of the site is about 0.5 MB.

I have both, and they are just too slow. I think if I were reading fiction page by page, it would be fine. When I read non-fiction for learning, it's very difficult to skip forward/back, re-read sections, highlight/annotate,

I think all these points are valid. As someone who spent the first 30 years of my life reading physical books, the transition to e-books has been difficult for a lot of the reasons you mention. I wish the author was more specific on what &q

I hear you on this, I’ve been through similar issues. Few comments though: - We have 3 kids, and you would think that would be a hostile Roomba environment but instead, it motivates them to keep the toys off the floor e.g. Legos. Sometimes

This may just be my personal experience, but my Roomba does a pretty mediocre job vacuuming my house. As a result, I have to run Roomba 3-4x per week the get the equivalent cleanliness of using a traditional vacuum cleaner once per week.
