Thanks for the feedback- all really good points. As the month goes on, I'll have some pictures of the cover-art and chapter list available. It will be self-published, DRM-free in PDF, mobi, epub. Looking into what it takes to publish on the

We use S3 as our origin, so using CloudFront makes sense from an ease of use and fastest response perspective. Also, CloudFront offers reserved capacity pricing for yearly commitments above a certain bandwidth level.

On the flip side, we use CloudFront for > 5 billion requests/month and couldn't be happier.

If you're storing something like followers or friends, a solution like Redis, Neo4J, Cassandra, etc is likely a better (and simpler to implement) choice.

You had me until the NoSQL rant. I see what you're saying, but modern data stores such as Cassandra, Riak, Mongo, Redis etc. are solving different problems and, IMO, it's ignorant to say that they are simply reinventing the wheel. There is

Don't really see what parts of mySQL you are stripping away by using this library. It's just extending/improving some weak spots of mySQL- you literally don't lose any features.

This project looks awesome and really points out some of the major weaknesses with in mySQL/libmysql- * Impossible/difficult to gracefully handle connection/query timeouts. * Extremely poor query/row cache (the table's entire query ca

Writing to mySQL on every page request is generally a "bad idea" unless you aren't getting much traffic (in which case, it's the easiest solution). The scalable way to build something like this would be to log your raw data to a service lik
