Just to follow up: I started building a python CLI tool. I'm only 2 days in but the 'happy path' is working: https://github.com/shiehn/midi_query

Lets say the query is: "Key of C, 4/4, [Am7,Am7,Em7,Dm7] My first naive approach will be to try this: 1) ensure the tune time sig is a match 2) for each bar collect the pitches and ensure that they contain the chord(or any inversi

yo, correction vamp is more than cool. I was imagining already knowing what the progression is and then searching for matching midi clips. Vamp alludes to the possibility of auto feature extracting the progression and then searching for p

Ah, I see what you are saying. Just tried some midi to text tools I get results like: "0 On ch=1 n=44 v=118 138 Off ch=1 n=44 v=0 240 On ch=1 n=46 v=63 377 Off ch=1 n=46 v=0 ..." Which is cool, but from there I still need a layer

Pretty sure I know how to build it I just don't want to have to LOL. MIDI isn't text. You have to use something like: https://pypi.org/project/MIDIUtil/ to go inside the midi file and read the notes wh

Whenever I need to explain MIDI to someone who has no idea what it is I ask them if they know what a player piano is. If they say yes, I say: It's that, but for computers, they seem to understand.

Exactly! UX/Pipelines/Integrations are the next logical step. It's my belief that samples will essentially be 'free' very soon. We will see DAW plugins/integrations that contextually offer samples to the comp

Really great! I've been using diffusion as well to create sample libraries. My angle is to train models strictly on chord progression annotated data as opposed to the human descriptions so they can be integrated into a DAW plugin. C

It caught me ear when he mentioned wavetable synthesis because I was under the impression that wavetable synthesis was popularized in the early 2000s with the dubstep soft synths like Serum. Turns out it was an old idea make new again.

I think I fixed it. TBH I was cheating and just checking the mark position every 25millis lol. But the looping should be sample accurate now.

I think the most valuable feedback I'm taking away today is to immediately stop using the term DAW. I'm building a loop arranger that exports a project to a DAW. REAPER is what I use to create samples. It's the only DAW I

It's not real-time. The backend is fed heavily annotated loops. It merges all the audio buffers before playback. I regret using the term DAW. It's a bit disingenuous. It's really a loop preview/arranger for people loo
