Wow, this is all over the place, not worth reading. Also it fails to point out a critical and very confusing distinction: EHR stands for "electronic healthcare record," as in an individual record / file / document, but i

If you're curious to learn more, look into cold blooded vs warm blooded animals and longevity. Cold blooded animals might give us hints to slow aging in humans. Energy expenditure might be related to longevity. Eating more and exercisi

Faxing is alive and well in medicine, since it's still the "secure" way to transfer documents. There are encrypted email solutions now, secure file transfer, and digital faxing, but I'm sure plenty of doctor's offic

They are the same thing of course, complexity is not relevant to the definition. The main difference is Vim's editing modes are imperative. You have to glue together small painful commands to do what you want. Modern editors are declar

I've always disliked that Bram calls Vim a "modal" editor. All this means is your keyboard and mouse actions do different things based on what "mode" of the editor you're in. All editors are "modal" e

This doesn't really matter. The Bluesky app has very few features, it's still invite only which limits the number of users, and engagement and active users are low. It's on a trajectory to death right now. The core of Bluesky

I tried to read this but I can’t deal with the writing quality. I think it’s partly the historical nature of the piece, but James is a terrible writer. He is obtuse and pompous and clouds his meaning with confusing sentences. Even the first

Is there any risk with running this locally just to see what SSH traversal is available? I have several legitimate hosts I SSH into regularly, some are cloud hosting.

Yes, everyone hates Twitter. Threads is dead. Mastodon is terrible and has no chance. Bluesky had a chance but their development team has proven they can't ship features, so it will die soon. There is currently no Twitter replacement c

How is this related to my factual statement that "vision therapy to improve myopia is quackery"?

Vim is a text editor, not a code editor. It has always been fundamentally designed this way.

No, it doesn't. Vision therapy is reliably shown to be quackery in studies. Vision therapy doesn't make sense, as there is no known signal to cause ECM breakdown / eye reshaping to reduce axial elongation. Myopia is a terribl

Essentially when things in your peripheral vision are in focus, aka things close to your eye like screens, your eye thinks it’s over focusing, and it grows longer to defocus, causing myopia. Preventing focus in peripheral vision removes thi

We know how myopia works now. Low dose atropine and glasses with fogged edges reliably slow or stop myopia progression. Myopia is not reversible by natural means. Sunlight is maybe related but it is more likely the proven mechanism of near

Myopia is not reversible with any known means except surgery. Your results are irrelevant and minor changes could simply be due to choroid thickness changes. There are comments like yours on every myopia post where people claim minor change
