This is all working as expected. You cannot ssh to a multicast address. More generally, you cannot set up a TCP connection to a multicast address. So that explains why your first ssh attempts failed. And as you noticed, ping on macOS is IPv

I would assume so as well, I'm not sure if all host operating systems act the same though. But you could probably just wait a couple of seconds and the interfaces would have assigned themselves link-local addresses.

The best solution to flying and long distance travel is to reduce it as much as possible. This means no more travelling for hedonistic (touristic) purposes. I.e. measures like massive taxation (also for private jets of course).

TUIs are really the worst of both worlds IMHO. The one advantage that a terminal has, is that commands can be concise and scriptable. But that only really applies to CLI. A TUI is just a poor man emulation of a GUI, without any advantages.
