I don't think it's as simple as urban vs rural. You can have a small town with a nice downtown or park where people meet and hang out. You can have walkable neighborhoods without giant apartment buildings. Neighborhoods where kids

Maybe our built environment shouldn't consist solely of isolated houses in isolated gated communities where we drive our kids and sit in isolated cars in the school dropoff/pickup lines.

Absolutely. I consider that to be primarily Biden's fault for not announcing in advance that he would not seek a second term. After that point, I think each decision made was the best that could be done at the time to minimize the dama

The context was one poll of 130 black Americans in which 26% responded “disagree” to the question, and in response he told all white people to stay away from all black people.

Having had any political experience is more merit for the position than the current president had in 2016.

I think the equivalent statement, as in one that is preexisting and has political connotations[1], would be "Black lives matter", for which I would not be surprised to see a decent number of "unsure" responses among whit

Placing outsized emphasis on individual data points that fit your existing narrative is a type of bias. Such as this poll that had 130 black respondents.

Advising members of your race to avoid contact with another race including moving to neighborhoods with a low proportion of that race is not super racist?

He combined those who disagree with those who were unsure to get up to 47%, and then declared that that meant that Black people were a hate group. I provided the link to the full episode for anyone who would like more context.

I think it’s interesting how many responses to this comment seem to have interpreted it fairly differently to my own reading. There are many responding about “ignoring racism,” “whitewashing,” or the importance of calling out bigotry. I’m n

I'm not sure the comment is saying to ignore the racism. "...you don’t get to edit out the parts that shaped you before you understood what was happening. The racism and the provocations were always there, maybe, just quieter. The

Personally avoiding consumption and calling for a purge from history are not equivalent. Even calling for a boycott or lack of commercialization of something is not purging from history.

And I have seen multiple counterfactuals. Even people who are descended from the one who was part of the "chosen family" continue to visit and treat them as family. An adopted child is also a form of chosen family. As is a spouse.

"Acknowledge the ugliness and try to do better" and purging art and history are different things. The comment you replied to above did not call for a purging of Adams' work or life from history.

In the context of the above comment I read "avoiding the ugliness" as avoiding incorporating it and continuing it in your own life, not shying away from talking about and addressing it. This comment actually makes a specific point

Horsepower is pretty cheap in an EV once you have a big battery. The 2026 Nissan Leaf, an economy car and one of the cheapest new EVs in the US at $29k, has 214hp.

Apple does still sell the M1 through resellers. Also there’s nothing wrong with buying used or refurbished. Apple doesn’t have to keep making older tech for people to continue getting use out of it.

If you want the latest and greatest you can get it. If an M1 is fine you can get a great deal on one and they’re still great machines and supported by Apple.
