There's a web version, and if they do follow through on their Activity Pub integration (which they have already demonstrated in a very limited capacity) then you'll be able to use whatever client you want to follow Threads users.

Wouldn't that hurt margins but also increase market power for these companies? Also how would it work if the product is already "free" to the consumer, ie Facebook or Google?

You know… like I get people “want” to drink and all. (Not me) But the older I get the more I’m on the side of this stuff isn’t necessary. It is detrimental to society and if someone wants to drink they should honestly reconsider their life

Depends on how long you can wait to charge. 10kW seems like a capacity that could be carried in the truck bed and then set up on flat ground while camping out. A realistic daily average output would be 30-40kWh in a day, or about 1/4 o

Why does it have to be perfectly equivalent? Do we only need to reduce emissions if doing so is not just feasible or workable but perfectly convenient for everyone in all situations? For reference my road tripping charges on interstate hi

If I say I want to go to X destination the car says I will arrive with Y battery percent left. This is accurate to me within about 5% of the battery, even driving at fast highways speeds and in cold weather. If it was "cheating" I

Cell phones are pretty much all USB-C at this point. EVs are either SAE J1772 or SAE J3400 which are adapter-compatible.

Where will you find refined unexpired gasoline in your MadMax apocalypse? A pack of solar panels you can set out in your bug-out camping zone seems more feasible to me. No dependency on ongoing supply chains. Just look at how quickly gas sh

My understanding is that WLPT is more consistent across manufacturers but as you say provides higher range numbers that won't match 70mph+ highway driving. ICE cars are rated in City MPG and Highway MPG, and both are displayed on the w

If you extrapolate this to the whole pack you get Nio's swappable battery system. I don't see this scaling out well especially with trying to get multiple manufacturers onboard with standard packs. Every EV can accept 120V or 240V

EVs would still have a carbon tax greater than public transit. People who can't afford a carbon tax on a new vehicle purchase probably aren't buying new vehicles anyway. Most people don't buy new vehicles at all.

I think it’s more that the EV battery adds $10k to the cost of the car. So they add lots of cheap bells and whistles (ie touchscreens) to justify that additional price.

Add a lifetime carbon tax to car purchases and EVs would make a lot more sense. Even without that they will make sense soon. Expecting new tech to start out at the same place on the mass-production supply chain curve as the internal combust

Driving and parking my car in a place that was designed in a world where not every household had 2+ cars to drive and park is annoying! To fix this we should bulldoze things and build more room for my car! I have to be able to park my car!
