We've been using GWT master with both incremental compilation + Java 8 lambdas (!) and it's pretty fun. Granted, the non-JVM debugging experience is not nearly as magical as it was before, but I believe there is some work afoot to

Personally, I think "blessing" UI frameworks as JSRs ("official!") is a bad idea. I think it leads to the UI framework (e.g. JSF in the past or this new MVC spec) "winning" and getting adopted by teams who, if

I imagine most Java web/services would consider it bad style/coupling to pick just one data back end (e.g. assume everyone uses JPA or Hibernate or what not), which would be needed to support migrations. Even after Rails, the Java

Any plans to collaborate with sdbg [1] for the Eclipse/debugging/source mapping side of the developer experience? (AFAIK sdbg is just one guy who regularly copy/pastes code out of the Dart IDE + does some polish for GWT proje

Seems like one of the better (best?) shutdowns Google has done IMO. There are several compelling (also free) alternatives (GitHub/etc.), so this isn't like Reader (which had previously killed a lot of viable/non-free competit

+1 to davmail proxy; it is incredibly important to my productivity. I actually donated some money to the developer, but I should do it again. The davmail code even handles Outlook having two-factor auth enabled, e.g. it'll recognize th

We were getting really close to converting our RDS instance from MySQL -> PG, but now with Amazon Aurora being the spiffy super-scalable/etc. RDS engine, we'll probably end up moving to that when/if needed. Which is a mixe

Looks really great. Has anyone compared this to CloudWatch Logs? When I initially looked at CW Logs, it seemed fairly incomplete compared to Splunk.

Any post/tool that mentions "cross-browser debugging protocols" has my immediate +1. Doing so from outside the browser (which gets me that much closer to staying in my IDE) has my immediate +100. I understand the fancy side o

These books that are kind of pop-science descriptions of concepts like dysrationality are great, but what I'd love is a set of workooks (at various levels, e.g. my kids, adult learners like me, etc.) to systematically teach these skill

Google is a big place; Dart and Polymer are funded as products under the Chrome division (that has budget to spend on big teams and marketing and developer advocates like Seth Ladd). GWT is under the platform/languages team, e.g. the
