He brought up another point . Given the known NSA revelations so far, it seems ignorant at best to welcome people who have ties with the NSA without putting their opinions under some scrutiny.

I use dumbphones. Dumbphones do not pause the music (at least not the ones I've been using for the past 10 years), which is probably why I'm against this behavior.

Yeah, pretty much. I'd be pissed and amazed if the default was to pause the song. I don't want the device to try to figure out what I'm trying to do, I want the device to do exactly what I tell it to do , which, in this ca

Latin American countries also wouldn't have the power to tell the US to piss off (as we've seen in July). He asked for asylum there but there was no way he could fly to these countries.

Vivendi was never a publisher for Activision, Blizzard or Activision Blizzard. It was merely their owner. Both companies as well as the merged version of them were always self-publishers. They were always independent of other publishers (sa

I'm working on a system based on Bret Victor's "Programming in Principle" talk. I believe to achieve such a system, you need to find a way to add semantics to code, as well as the utilization of proofs in order to ha

That's a nice view. What sucks is that you need money in order to get elected. And if you're not a millionaire already, chances are corporations won't be willing to lobby for someone proposing to change the status quo.

It doesn't bother me. I suspect many people go to SO in order to solve a problem. Sometimes it's nice to find gigantic answers explaining the theory behind the question itself and giving the answer & examples in the end. It&#x

I believe you're missing the point: there are people who are way more lonely than the average person. From the article, I believe it is talking about people who are lonely and do not enjoy it (even if unconsciously).

Yes, but standard C has no way to tell the compiler a variable is immutable (immutability != constness), so unless you go non-standard (and very verbose at it) Erlang is still a better tool for the job.

Well, it's time to disallow functions, since someone can misuse their names. And exceptions, since someone might use it as goto. Might as well get rid of non-primitive types, there might be a very bad person willing to name a class with a c
