Part of this has to do with the cost of Ubuntu. I'm not talking paying developers to make sure it works on the machine, but the actual cost that Canonical charges for the ability to use the Ubuntu logo and becoming "certified"; It's not a

Kinda reminds me of the Amazon outage. Except that they aren't apologizing. And they are looking to blame anyone but themselves.

When Paypal updates their EULA and various other policies I get an email about it and I can't remember if it's the link or in the email itself but it has a summary of what has changed since the last one.

It won't let me respond to your comment, and you're right, I shouldn't have made that comment. I do apologize, and apparently misread the comment. Hopefully people can look past both things and realize that there is more to ARM than just

I have a Trimslice Dev-Kit (I'm a Gentoo developer) and I have one of the 32GB on order. There are probably other things incorrect in your comment but the main point I want to address is the "equivalent to a pentium 3"; this is definitely n

Most expire the mapping within a few days although AT&T Uverse routers default to ~30 days. Personally due to the fact that I tend to set up a lot of machines and want them available by hostname I set mine to ~30 minutes.

I agree with the author that the stigma is that you only work at McDonalds if you are a loser. At least in major cities. I grew up in the country as well and perhaps the teachings are a tad different there. I was taught that any income is b

Glad I got mine recently. I was freaked out by the fact that when I handed them my birth certificate, they didn't hand it back. "It will be returned to you by mail" they said; I'm not sure why they needed to keep the birth certificate,

This isn't unity specific, the only reason they did it was to see if the user could then find the document. The failing in this specific case is more on the side of Libre/OpenOffice.

I use a Logitech G15, and it has a little switch on it to switch between "computer" and "gaming" mode. Since I rarely use(d) the super/windows key, I tend to just leave it in "gaming" mode. Without running into a post like this, I would hav

I work with Ubuntu for work ( we make ARM devices ) so every so often I have to run Natty to test if it is usable yet. If you have a "decent" OpenGL graphics card, then depending on when you install it may or may not work. I currently hav

And to address who does it, it doesn't matter. Someone in the company should be in charge of doing the backups. If no one else will, then take it upon yourself to do so. If you have a medium sized company, someone in your IT department sho

You should always have at least 2 different backups, one on site and one off site (disaster recovery) these are completely separate from "it's in the cloud so I don't have to worry about it." And this is why I personally dislike "the cloud"

In house or external doesn't matter. You always backup. Because it seems to be a foreign concept in this day and age, I will repeat it again. You always backup.

Why don't people make backups anymore? I know that using Google Apps is much easier than running your own stuff in-house. It requires much less time and resources, but at the same time there are still best practices and disaster recovery pl

Fwiw, Freescale has a 64bit ppc processor now... Either way though, until you're able to just drop an ARM processor into a "commodity" motherboard, it won't really see widespread use, aside from cell phones, and other mobile devices. There

Entirely possible. Currently I am a dropbox customer and see no benefit in switching to Amazon. The only thing that would make me switch is if they came out with a Linux ARM client. It's the only hardware I have that doesn't have a native
