I think at this point speed is a great differentiator. I've been happy with the featureset and design of all C++ IDEs I've tried for a decade or so now, but they never seem to get any faster. An IDE designed specifically for speed

A native Linux build is still better performance than Proton, so with the popularity of Steam Deck it is worth the effort recompiling for Linux for higher performance games.

This is related to the real reason key changes no longer chart, they are a cliche. You are no more likely to get a song with cheesy modulations into the Billboard top 100 than you are a book that starts "it was a dark and stormy night&

I've had a similar experience. Most of the little irritations that induced me to switch to Ubuntu have been solved in the base Debian distro. Some of Ubuntu's default settings are still a little more user friendly, but it is reall

How do these Rust kernel modules handle out of bounds access in an array? In a C module it would be undefined behaviour leading to kernel panic or weird bugs, in a Rust userspace binary it would be a panic that terminates the process with a

Ok, thanks for explaining. I got excited for a moment and thought that the compilation was being used instead of hashing as a proof of work. That would require compilation to be trivially verifiable though, so sadly it is not the case.

If the JVM is AOT compiling the bytecode back to native code there is a good chance that it ends up executing as object code that is more or less what a C compiler would have generated in the first place.

gdscript is dynamically typed. If you have the large arrays of structs common in gamedev, then all data members are boxed, significantly increasing memory usage compared to something like C#.
