Not to mention that UIs are visual, i.e. defining what is “correct” in terms a computer can understand is very hard. There are dozens of criterias (colors, spacing, borders, shadows, fonts, behavior, etc.), and often what is accetable is fu

The neural network is not for measuring how far off the time is, it’s for guessing where different trendlines in the charts should start and end. You could say it’s overkill, but as I mention in the article I wasn’t happy with the results I

I’ve been subscribed to this issue since forever: https://github.com/tensorflow/tensorflow/issues/22 Doesn’t sound like using OpenCL on iOS will be realistic any time soon. Am I wrong about that?

Using the camera for taking measurements is a great idea. Deciding where to split the trendlines is a separate problem though. A different way to take the measurements wouldn’t change that. Would love to chat about ways of improving both. S

Good point. I tried to use PyTorch’s cross_entropy function but I got this error: "multi-target not supported".

It’s a great idea. I had it on the back burner. Wasn’t sure if it was worth the time for a relatively niche app. Now I’m thinking it might be worth doing just so I can write about it!

I suspect this happens because what makes the original dish special is the delicate balance of local ingredients, expert skills, and local taste which evolved together over centuries. Take the dish to a new context, with different quality o

Another factor I don't see talked about is the increase in women's participation in the workforce. When wages were higher it was common to only have one breadwinner in the family. Today women are more likely to get a job (or two),

As an Italian native speaker I wholeheartedly agree. It's one of the reasons I love English more. Not only does English have many more homophones, and nouns can be used as verbs and vice versa, but English also has a much higher “word

Not quite. ISO 216 paper sizes are designed so that if you split them in half you get the same ratio (1:sqrt(2), or 1:1.414). The golden section is so that if you take a square out from one side, you get the same ratio (1:1.618).

I wonder why the author does not recommend Mozart for beginners. I find Mozart’s operas to be much more accessible than the popular romantic ones. Not only is his music way catchier, but Mozart and and his librettists also do comedy like fe
