Surge pricing in itself affects people differently across income levels. If the end goal is to have availability to sanitation supplies across the population to prevent the spread, then surge pricing is not the answer.

There are other externalities to this. Tax incentives are better if you can buy vs rent, which is harder in high COL. Also from personal experience, you get to live in more vibrant and diverse neighborhoods as opposed to more homogenous one

Electronics, if weatherproofed properly, will last a very long time. They don't have any wear and tear like mechanical parts so I'm not sure what would degrade other than the battery or misc connectors.

Nitrogenating definitely changes the taste--it flattens it out a bit, and it for sure does dissolve into the coffee. The wine systems probably use a low pressure so that they don't dissolve as much.

I do this as well, it's so hard to find good lightly-roasted beans in most places outside of big cities. (Even big cities in europe and asia seem to prefer a very dark roast everywhere)

Your present comfort to some extent relies on people not having tons of kids. We'd be overcrowded and resource-constrained. It's great that you have kids but it's not like a it's a public service you're performing.
