Even just separate buttons for "funny" and "informative/insightful" would be pretty nice on reddit or HN. Slashdot's comment moderation system always seemed to work pretty well to me. The general editorial quality is what made me give up o

It's phrased that way because of the Star Trek IV reference. I think it comes up in the same scene where Scotty is flustered because the 1980's computer doesn't respond to voice commands...

I guess this technically was a security update -- that version of Java had known vulnerabilities that they could not distribute fixes for. (Because of Oracle's license changes.)

What? An accelerometer does measure acceleration, but relative to the free-fall acceleration. That's different than measuring the change in acceleration. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accelerometer )

I only have a galaxy nexus, so no idea! :) Repurposing the search key would probably make the most sense to me, but I can see that would be confusing. Has ICS rolled out to any older phones yet?

Since no one else has mentioned it, ICS has improved how you navigate among apps. The three omnipresent buttons are now back, home, and recent apps. Recent apps pulls up a visual stack of everything you've used recently, so the ICS expecta

Hmm, Super Meat Boy seems to be totally fine on my mac. (2010 Air 11"). However, Binding of Isaac is pretty lagtastic. (But, quite possibly the most fun I've had with a game this year.)

I don't think its that simple. Wikipedia says > A trademark is typically a name, word, phrase, logo, symbol, design, image, or a combination of these elements. There is also a range of non-conventional trademarks comprising marks which

Ah, you're right, it's so simple! If changing the JS engine breaks a web site, the sites authors will either customize the JS engine, or choose not to switch after all! No, wait a minute...

A version of jemalloc specifically written for mozilla's codebase. If it were a 100% compatible drop in replacement for malloc, why hasn't every other project switched to jemalloc yet? (Searching for switching to jemalloc , seems like ever

My city had a decent sized independent bookstore open just two years ago. And since they just moved into a better location, I'd assume they're doing ok. ( http://www.morrisbookshop.com/ )

I've seen this subject come up before, and someone said that Medical Justice sells themselves pretty hard to medical professionals -- sometime places will sign on without really understanding all the details.

It was the bit about ARM processors that made no sense -- the author since edited it out, since that wasn't the point he was trying to make! :)

I think adding details like that makes your point more strongly -- too many folk on the internet shoot their mouth off with vague claims, which when poked at completely fall apart. But in this case it only took clicking on your user profil

Or: if I compare three different distributions, it's possible for A&C to be distinct, but for A&B and B&C to overlap. As the linked article says, the idea of statistical significance being a binary state is to blame here.
