I believe you are correct but they eventually relented after they had sold part of the business. Lemonis, for his part, voluntarily gave up part of his equity to the manager of the location who volunteered to shut down his own location.

You're right, if I had said that it would not be fair.

There is a particular episode where he turns around a chain of family restaurants. I can't remember the numbers but various locations earnings were something like: +1 million, -1 million, +300k, +100k. Now he bought it for some multipl

Peter's point still holds. If the company has 100 employees, that is $7! For 10,000 employees, it comes to $700! His point is that it isn't really significant. How can "catching" him on the single employee assumption be

The consensus is with you. I wonder if they could win it back somehow. Or at least make it easy enough so that building a client is low risk.

I see from all the other responses too that this is the case. I thought if it was available to their own web client, another local client could just effectively scrape that data.

I am not familiar with these limits. (I mean, I know they have some, but not how they work). Can't any client just read off the web version? Is there something preventing that?

This allows the following to happen: 1. If someone can make a better MacOS client, they should do so and charge for it! 2. Customers can probably pick up a free client from someone who wants to play around or pay a little more for a pro cli

I note that all three points you make: 1. I agree with and 2. Don't contradict anything I said The question at hand is whether there is reason to believe that Pittsburgh's future growth will outperform its past growth because of C

But CMU has been producing world class CS grads for decades now, and some % do stay to start their own ventures, and yet Pittsburgh is not (yet) in the same league as even the "Next Silicon Valley" list cities. (Seattle, LA, etc)

I wonder why they picked Coursera over Udacity or EdX. EdX seems quite Microsoft heavy. But Google has released a lot of material on Udacity, and they have other connections (Thrun). Just curious.

Its great that you have experience in the matter. Can you share the industry? And are you saying that they also engaged in cold calling?

I'll give an example. I know someone who really wants to make products abroad cheaply and sell them in the united states. I think -- I haven't talked to him in years -- that he would love to receive a call that says "Can you

The most successful people I know are on the phone all the time. However, I don't know if they would want to talk to strangers about something unrelated to their business.

I have a question for other HN readers: if you got a call from a stranger asking you to discuss generic (or even specific) problems you face in your life, your job, or elsewhere, what would you do? I looked through the scripts presented and

I assume -- maybe I should not -- that there are many products that are comparable. So even at $30/unit, you sold about 2000 units over a few weeks which is (to my mind) pretty good for a brand new product. You mentioned ads, so what w

I'll start with some obvious ones: how much money did you make? What was revenue and what was cost? How many units did you sell? How did anyone ever hear about the product?
