That's hilarious. Columbo was my grandfather's favorite show on Hungarian TV back in the day. Every episode was absolutely perfectly lip synced - you couldn't even tell that Hungarian wasn't the original language.

Anecdotal evidence. 2 out of three people who initially installed Mailbox and waited in line with me have gone back to the regular Mail app. I am likely to do so as well soon. Why? While Mailbox is nice, it only adds a single feature: t

They should be, but they are not. And don't get me started on the ensuing hell if you are trying to share your desktop via WebEx or Lync. My favorite exchange at the meeting couple of weeks ago (with a remote sales rep). Meeting organizer:

I am gonna go against the grain here and agree with Marissa. A situation where you have a couple of people that are remote (while everyone else is in the office) creates all kinds of issues. For instance, at a meeting 20 people have to wa

Like others said, an old post. To be sure, he is testing the SPDY speed from a client to a SPDY proxy that then connects to a real HTTP site. It makes no sense to correlate these results with real SPDY web servers serving real traffic.

I am going to go against the grain here and say that what Steve Jobs is asking (e.g. stop direct recruitment of Apple employees) is not unreasonable. Microsoft's continued poaching of Borland employees brought about the demise of the compan

Siri is pretty great at the domain I use it on (directions, alerts, reminders, etc...) . Google Voice Search is not even close. Not quite sure why you'd want to replace it.

This is a great point. We (developers) always think in terms of the box we locked ourselves into. Advice similar to yours helped me rethink my marketing message once upon a time and the results were pretty darn good.

I use PACER all the time and I really appreciate the fact that it's really simple, even if it looks like I am browsing in Netscape Navigator. The point of PACER is to get to documents quickly, which it does very well.

Ford has offered this type of functionality (read-only, of course) for the last 15 years at least. They had at that time a parallel cable (remember those printers) interface to their engine that would let you get all kinds of information.

Depends on the packet size. With 64k packets, you can easily approach 800M. But, yes, default packet of 8k will yield 480M at best.

MS is definitely confusing the market. Their ARM offering should be for tablets only and shouldn't be called Windows RT or Windows anything else. It should have been called Metro OS or some such. It shouldn't have included desktop mode,

For me, the missing piece in Google Maps is that it does not integrate with my contacts. Most of my searches are based on contacts. Probably coming in v2. Otherwise pretty solid.

Google Desktop (while it was still alive) was also spying on users in the same manner as you described above. I am not clear why there was no uproar about that? http://angryhacker.com/blog/archive/0001/01/01/google-and-pr...

I think the G120 and/or G120HDR boards are so much better. Much faster, a ton more memory, full tcp stack and you get to program in a high level language: C#. This also means that there are a ton of libraries, should you need any. And th

I remember installing it for the first time and it felt just right. The other browsers at the time (Mozilla Suite, Netscape 6.x, IE) just felt so bulky. You could tell right away that this software was going to go places.
