The page you linked to says: > GL layers acceleration is not yet enabled by default (see bug 594876). You can enable it by setting layers.acceleration.force-enabled=true in about:config. That means off by default. Also maybe relevant is

If you can't stand for that, then do something about it. Fix bugs, or pay people to fix bugs. On what grounds are you entitled to demand anything of the Chromium team?

Not by default. GPU acceleration is off by default in Firefox on Linux. Distros may change that in their bundles, but the official builds have it turned off.

I haven't read Masters of DOOM but I did enjoy the other two books. And yes, the Inner Game of Tennis is more about the "inner game" than the tennis. And the inner game applies to everything in life. Too bad you didn't a

I agree with your point in general, but in this case all we have to go on is Rachel's account of what happened, which was posted to illustrate a particular point and is probably missing important context. I'm not saying the compan

If an article was posted by $random_internet_person about a car that exploded with "some details changed", where necessary context is missing (e.g. what the car company did in the aftermath to ensure it doesn't happen again),

Ah, good point. You should still be able to reorder background tabs using the double-tap-drag gesture (touchdown, touchup, touchdown, touchmove). I haven't tried it recently though.

Reordering tabs via touch should work, it was fixed in Firefox 59 ( https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1362065 ). And yes, pinch zoom is not supported (we do text/reflowing zoom, but not mobile-style pinch zoom

Hm, if that's the case, then it's a bug. If you could file a bug at bugzilla.mozilla.org it would be much appreciated. Even though it already happened we can try and ensure it doesn't happen again.

There are more tradeoffs involved in building a browser than just "powerful extensions vs browser performance". So you have a false assumption built into your question, that the two browsers in question are making identical compro

Part of the problem is that APIs that are good for extensions are by definition bad for performance (because they allow the extension to hook into important places and do a lot of things). So there is an inherent tradeoff between extension
