For a plane that can truly (albeit briefly) fly backwards, checkout the Sukhoi-30. It is a Russian fighter jet with truly vectored exhaust - think F-22, but 2 axes vs. 1 axis. Here is a video of it doing loops and Cobra maneuvers: https:&#

My mom died from this exact same (super rare) cancer. Ocular melanoma almost always metastasizes to the liver. For a ocular melanoma survivor, a liver check every 6 months is highly recommended. It seems his tumor in his eye had the mutatio

You have to learn to pronounce each word with Chinese too.

I disagree. The benefit of having the standard terms is they are the same in every FP library you use. If you spend the time to learn and internalize them within one, it'll be the same in every language or library that implements them.

Colemak actually puts Backspace where Caps Lock is. I've always swapped Ctrl and Caps Locks though and did it with Colemak as well.

I used the Colemak layout for a little over a year and eventually switched back to QWERTY. I had the same problem that many other people had with alternate keyboards - it's great if only you use only your own computer(s). Whenever you

They're referring to the Raspberry Pi. The Broadcom chip on it is not open or documented. The Arduino is from Italy.

This article lacks any kind of substance: it is a short summary of a couple of links about Über with an accompanying graph of the blogger's Über/Lyft usage.

The article didn't say there was no way to check, just that the compiler does not enforce checking. Rust's type system requires that all possible paths are accounted for when trying to extract the value from the option.

Why would they have to fork the language instead of just being 5.1 compatible. There is nothing saying they have to be the most recent version compatible.

The knights in the movie 'King Arthur' (with Clive Owen and Keira Knightley) are Sarmatian knights. Without respect to Amazons and the women, it seems the movies somewhat accurately represents the knights.

I guess it was just a matter of time. I would have really liked if Bezos actually wanted to have a nice, respectable newspaper without using it as a marketing platform for Amazon.

It's nice to see someone as important as Linus just act so normal, as if he didn't create some of the most important software in the world. I really like that he doesn't espouse minimalist, nitty-gritty Linux distros, but rat

One thing that I noticed was the lack of Xeon processors for Intel. When I built my current rig, I could get an i7 level chip for an i5 price, but without integrated video. This is totally fine for gaming rigs and something that isn't

For the contents outline, some kind of bullet or symbol would be nice to indicate different levels and each heading.

The battery life alone would be impressive, but I don't know how you can get a phone battery to last almost 12 days except maybe by having the phone off.

I wrote a test app with the newest Xcode and simulator. It does work with iOS 7, with iPad Air, iPhone 4s, iPhone5, etc. I would imagine that it will support at least 6.0 and maybe even back to 5.0. EDIT: Tested with 6.x and works.

Except with a motorcycle, you are able to get up to the intended speed for a road. A bicycle cannot accelerate or maintain as high of a speed as a car. A motorcycle does not have either of these problems.

In a somewhat related note with bicycle laws, what is the best way to deal with bicycles filtering? Bicycles can filter at a light/stop sign to get up to the front. However, they then hold up the cars since the bicycle should be treate

My mom died to melanoma in August. The first days and weeks are the hardest. It gets better, but the article's last paragraph really hits the nail on the head: it's those random, special moments that you had that will get you. Whe

It was never explicitly said. The plane used to have a 3-person crew and had moved to a 2-person crew (missing the flight engineer). This left the check unassigned. It is mentioned in the 2nd paragraph under the Investigation header.

Do you have any links about the upper bounds of performance in Rust? I have a passive interest in embedded and Rust and that sounds pretty interesting.
