A few reminders bear repeating: — no support group from a big company is going to call you. Ever. — never give out codes sent to use via sms or push notifications to someone requesting them via phone or email. Never. The messages often even

What if it relies on non-standard changes to Bluetooth and WiFi? Must they get these passed in the standards committees first?

Then why not deprecate the API every month? Also do a firmware update every month across their ecosystem.

Multi patterning to get effective smaller wavelengths has been around a while. It’s cheaper to reuse machines you already own, but slows down production. OpenAI does more than LLMs, they have bio ML research etc. and Google has AlphaFold. I

Definitely measure both ways and decide. For many years (still?) it was faster to run your database with hyper threading turned off and your app server with it turned on.

Eh, what’s a thread really? It’s a term for us humans. The difference between two threads and one core or two cores with shared resources? Nothing is really all that neat and clean. It more of a 2 level NUMA type architecture with 2 sets of

Will be interesting when (if?) Intel ships software defined cores which are the logical inverse of hyper threading. Instead of having a big core with two instruction pipelines sharing big ALUs etc, they have two (or more) cores that combine

This looks like the logical inverse of hyper threading. With hyper threading, you had a big core with, say, multiple ALUs that went unused if the work was numerically simple. So it tried to run two threads and use all ALUs. This is the reve

Funny, but I had that butterfly keyboard for many years (until I got an M2) and never had a problem. It’s no mechanical keyboard to the fingers, but it worked fine.

People don’t hold land to just wait it out. The holding costs are high and there is really only one time when this works well (when a city is expanding and you get some land in that path). When you own land, you have taxes, insurance, mortg

That’s an interesting condition—that the market indicates the land can be improved profitably. However, it depends. An area might have enough demand for a single improvement, like a 7-11 or something, but no prospects for any more. Punishin
