The guts are the same across these systems (defender, mse, forefront, etc). They use the same engine but it used to be defender only received antispyware signatures. There are some features on top but basically these are just wrappers aroun

Isn't it kind of creepy that you manage which websites people can visit and spy on their usage? I disagree that this is needed for "adequately managing their network."

I would assume the individual jobs could be fairly different, e.g. the plumbing doesn't come into the necessary places, shutoff valves not working.

Yeah I feel there should be some redress here under the 4th amendment, unless facts are being held back I don't see how this search warrant was ever issued.

This reminds me of the stories from the GFC where the treasury and fed brought together large banks and asked them to sign on to TARP.

If this was a DMCA takedown they need to file a counter notice, at which point I believe GitHub will reinstate them. Unless it's glaringly obvious that the original claim was abusive AFAIK the law doesn't give any leeway.

I agree, I come in 5 days a week and not having a dedicated space would make that experience much worse. I wouldn't rejoin the Cloud PA with this policy in place, and I imagine plenty of people will leave when the tech industry turns a

I remember watching office space when it came out and thinking "welp that's going to be my life." In high school I talked to someone who had a bachelors in CS and he cautioned me that it wasn't worth the paper it was pri

I used to walk or ride my bike to Dunkin Donuts at that age and it's likely farther than the one in this story. I imagine the officers are DCF workers will bear no accountability for this.

I'm stunned that so many more ICs were laid off than managers (unless I'm reading the data wrong, it didn't render well for me on mobile). It sure seems there are far more managers to begin with so it looks really disproporti

While I admire the journalistic pieces that display integrity I think those are far too often the exception. Instead news media like all media is just after attention, and that doesn't so neatly align with this quote. The New York Time

There are random bits of correlation everywhere and investigating whether there's an underlying causative reason is laborious. It's no surprise then that not every one gets looked at, and people pick what is most likely to yield a

The problem is that squeezing out more fuel economy + power and reducing emissions has also made the engine design more complex. Not too big a leap to say this also makes them less reliable and more difficult to service. There's a vide

I'd definitely take Kotlin over Go. That you can reuse the java codebase is a huge win, but even apart from that the language is a breath of fresh air.
