No it doesn't. Their reputation rests on their users, one of whom is trashing them in public after a bad experience. Arrington/TC have published pretty much everything Chesky have told them, including letting them do a guest post.

I can't believe I'm defending Arrington here but for once, I think PG is off and Arrington is right. Arrington's editorializing has been fairly tame in this story. A lot of the mess has been due to EJ's posts and Airbnb's attempts at damage

PG - I can't believe I'm defending Arrington but it is hard to say that he's the one at fault here. - Most of the damaging content is from EJ's blog. The original TC article only has a couple of bad parts where it says "Airbnb’s response so

If that AirBnb co-founder really asked her to tone down her post because it would mess with future financing, that's just sad. Talk about inappropriate timing and priorities

In that case, what does the text in my comment mean? If law enforcement is asking you for content, they'll always have some legal paperwork to back it up. Those rare exceptions are pretty much the rule when it comes to dealing with LE.

I'm not sure how they plan to stick to this part "we won’t share your content with others, including law enforcement, for any purpose unless you direct us to". If Dropbox gets a sub-poena to hand over some user's content, can they really as

I doubt they process customer feedback in the matter of a few days :). Besides, there's a history of AMZN doing things just before or just after a Windows Azure announcement. See their announcements always timed the week before MIX or PDC o

This is probably a move in response to Windows Azure dropping its inbound data transfer rates to zero last week. When I was back in Windows Azure, we would often see AWS try to do a price-match whenever we changed prices drastically.

If you see the OP, the woman behind the lawsuit seems angry that she had to find out about it in the news rather than with Dropbox informing her. That is a serious mistake and one that Dropbox should take heat for. Bugs happen but not commu

I'm a big fan of the 5 P's and the author does a great job talking about them. My very first week at Microsoft, I was looking through internal videos when I saw a video from J Allard titled something like 'How to be a PM at Microsoft'. It m

To be clearer, Windows Azure can run any code that can run on Windows. So if you have x86/x64 code that runs in a Win2k8 OS, you're good to go. And most languages can do that, some with Cygwin. The major ones (Java, PHP, Python, Ruby, Erlan

windows.net is the root URL for all the Windows Azure storage services. Back in 2008, we knew that Windows Azure was going to have the 'Windows' part of it's name. Since Microsoft already owned windows.net, this made it an obvious choice. S

I'm going through a similar experience. I haven't posted my resume anywhere and I'm not even really 'looking' right now. But I've got a ton of emails from people who've seen my tweet on leaving MSFT or better, from a post on HN about it.

It gets worse - Silverlight is now the development story for WP7 while HTML/JS seems to be the premier way to write apps for Win8 (though I assume there'll be a way to get SL/C++ working with the new stuff - I'll be stunned if there wasn't)

Biggest part of announcement was the HTML+JS part. Let that sink in- HTML+JS is now the premier way to write Windows apps. Who would have thought this day would come?
