You got it - the creative developments of a stronger theory. This allows the creation of tools which can categorize TMs, tools which wouldn’t exist otherwise. It’s fascinating that the entire space of finite amounts of random gibberish cont

Thanks for sharing interesting info! How do we know that there would be consistency issues or Σ₁-soundness issues? Your claim about proof size categorizing n-state machine halting status is new to me. Do you have any links to read more abou

It’s not necessary to actually fall asleep. Just set a timer and relax. For me it’s only a semi-conscious pre sleep state, but it helps significantly. Do this if you get tired while driving too. It’s a life saving practice! (And no, driving

Imo I agree CLUSTER should help, although pg_repack is even better, since it doesn't yknow hold an exclusive lock while it copies the entire table. pg_repack still is very slow compared to consistent BTree rebalancing in MySQL. The pro

Maybe the distortion in the physical disk has some type of signature, and it can be determined whether that distortion is fast or slow. For ex, I would bet that 2x intended speed isn’t simply 2x every frequency in the FFT, when played throu

Wdym rewrite the entire document? AFAICT MongoDB’s storage layer uses 4kb pages, so every modification has to write at least 4kb.

Yeah, there’s index size, and also disk size. Postgres packs table rows on disk tightly, but not in RAM. So I guess an 8kb page on disk could be more than 8kb in ram? Seems to only affect working memory for table row data. Still significant

Obligatory mention that although Halt doesn’t exist for arbitrary P, there are Halt_N for every natural N where Halt_N works on empty-input TMs with at most N states. Undecidability is more about compression than it is about whether we can

Your comment is a great example of how intelligent humans hallucinate! Gpt-4 often handles errors well. The generated code is easy to review if you understand what you asked for (if it generates tests and examples too-which it can). Etc
