There is a shocking variety of users on HN. Don't make the mistake of thinking we're all software developers sitting in front of a computer all day. People like GP - and other hardware monkeys* - are the reason your computer works

Simply ignore users like that. If someone actually important brings up that instance as you 'being an asshole', then explain your reasoning then. If that doesn't calm them down, they're probably not someone worth working

Do you think GP is like, lying to you? Or maybe managers are just silly and are indeed willing to draw $500 for a pizza party but are unwilling to drop the same for a year of support for software they depend on. This is absolutely believabl

I don't think 'hostility' is called for, but certainly a little bit more... bluntness. But indeed, huge props to the maintainers for staying so cool.

It's also a fairly simple matter to respect the time of the maintainers of software you want to contribute to - by, for example, talking to them before dumping 16,000 LoC in a PR and expecting them to review it. Unless, of course, it h

I think everyone would appreciate if these people using LLMs to spit out these PRs would fork things and "contribute" to those forks instead.

I think GP just used RF as an example and was only referring to GT as a comparison in difficulty. GT's system of only pulling power on-demand is very nice though; no wasting fuel

Out of curiosity, which mods are this cruel? I've been playing GT (modern) lately and even it doesn't void your machine's items unless you break the machine itself.

Users who are installing a new OS should be able to handle it being called KDE Connect. There's some far too charitable takes in this thread, IMO. It's a really scummy move by the Zorin people to take FOSS, rename it, and sell acc
