Like I said, even if the instance is "alive", if it's not currently handling a request it's CPU is throttled to nothing so you can't trust any background process will finish its work.

When an instance isn't handling a request it either gets killed almost immediately, or if even if you have min idle instances configured, its CPU get's throttled to nothing. So you can't have goroutines or some such doing any

Seems they're still having problems with their headless tanks given it looked like the 2nd raptor landing fire flamed out immediately, even earlier than the previous flight. I thought they had switched to using COPVs but that either ma

Users on r/WallStreetBets have rallied around buying stocks, like GameStop ($GME), that are heavily shorted by the market (generally by larger trading firms). This buying has driven the stock prices up very very quickly, because of the

I’ve built an api gateway in go at my last company and my current one, so I’m actually a fan of the pattern. Usually the decision revolves around complex auth and permissioning rules that already exist in go, and would be a pain to rewrite.

I’d go even a step further and say FAANG companies, despite what their tech blogs might argue, aren’t at all immune from making very dumb decisions or adopting very silly practices. To follow those same ideas blindly could cripple your comp

My Sony a6500 has been perfectly fine with my macbook since Sony released the new drivers. I haven't noticed any latency and love getting compliments from zoom peeps on the non-AI blur I get with my 16mm f1.4 lens.

Pretty much every time I’ve pulled out a channel in Go I end up rewriting it to just use a mutex, or even easier, write to individual indices in a slice.

Here's the first one from last November. The illustrations work surprisingly well with the NYT style. [0] https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/12/science/randall-munroe-mo...

For comparison I’ve been using Go and a distroless container image and never had any problems. However you can set the minimum instance count now. That feature was opened up for Cloud Run managed a few weeks ago.

My joke around the office is some people optimize for latency, some for throughput, some for memory usage. I, however, optimize for sleep. My entire goal is for my services to never wake me up. And if they do it had better because I clearly
