Here's a refreshing read on some of the issues with solar specifically: https://doomberg.substack.com/p/herbie-spoils-the-party

Doesn't look too convincing. And it would be interesting to see how much cases went up as a result of passport holders starting running around infecting people at an increased rate.

Niche subreddits are still decent but the community as a whole is a cesspool. The mistake was bringing internet to the masses, as opposed to keeping it difficult enough to be used only by passionate and/or smart people. Now that the ca

That's the problem Brave is trying to solve. Micropayments have been a potential niche for cryptocurrencies, it just hasn't taken off (yet), even though there's a lot of crypto related "innovations" (DeFi, NFT'

Good question. Very relevant question. It seems to be looked at in a vacuum.

The study is somewhat skewed since its comprised of people 50+ years old, which have a significantly higher risk to begin with compared to young healthy adults. Edit: Removed false/misleading bit.

For one, NOAA shows a US-centric aurora view while SWL shows a mercator projection. And it has a much nicer dashboard.

Adults over 18 perhaps. But children? And with two vaccine doses, per year? Do the harmful effects accumulate, anyone have any idea?

Interestingly in Finland at least women have been reporting considerably higher amount (around 70%) of side-effects from the vaccine. Haven't looked at other countries though.

Too easily getting caught up in news. I tend to not really follow what's going on, but I get into these periods where I keep checking everything. Might take a week or two, then I snap out of it and get back to my life again.

Also - to elaborate - it doesn't actually cost billions of money to build nuclear reactors. Or wind turbines, or solar panels for that matter. Ultimately it costs energy . You could argue that money is a claim on future energy. EROE

Nuclear will be a part of the (attempted) solution for sure. The problem with nuclear is that it takes many years and billions to build. The US alone would need somewhere around 500 new reactors to replace fossil fuels, not to mention the r

Ok maybe we're getting stuck on definitions here. When I think "progressive taxation" I'm thinking something like: < 10k 0% 10-30k 20% 30-60k 40% 60k+ 60% Whereas "flat tax" is just a se

Yeah I stopped looking at case numbers a long time ago. They're completely irrelevant, with the amount of hysteria going around. Hospitalization is the only thing that matters at this point (and in fact has been since the beginning).

I don't know what high horse bubble you live in, but in my almost 40 years on this planet I've only met one single person who has ever had a flu shot and he's younger than me. Granted I have to live in another kind of bubble.

Thanks! I had been considering Mastodon for a private (non-federated) little community. But from a quick look it seems Pleroma doesn't have any mobile apps? That's a dealbreaker for many people.
