I have a fanless Haswell NUC from Logic Supply[0] that I use for a MythTV frontend that I really love. Boots super fast off the 32G SSD, and the HD-4400 GPU (with VAAPI) handles with aplomb every kind of video I've thrown at it. [0]:

It's interesting how opinions about Ready Player One can be so polarized. As someone who spent their formative years living through the 80s, this book was a non-stop cringe-fest of embarrassment for me, made even worse by Wil Wheaton

I have two original PC/AT keyboards, and I love them, not just for their correct placement of the CONTROL key, but because they are if anything, even louder and more tactile than the model M. To connect them to my Mac I have to use two

Cassandra was used at Twitter[0] to store quite a lot of time series data. A typical production instance of the time series database is based on four distinct Cassandra clusters, each responsible for a different dimension (real-time, histo

I love the consistency of the HR data I get from my old-school Polar watch and band, but you're right, after a few hours the band is pretty uncomfortable. I was quite disappointed with the Basis watch. Even when it did work my HR would

The watch isn't meant to compete with your phone for content consumption, it's for subtle notifications and alerts. Who is calling me? What meeting am I going to in 10 minutes? Who just texted me? I see myself getting a completely

Lacking even a basic keyword search, I'm afraid this product falls well short of its tagline. Can you call it a search engine without a search feature? I do appreciate the ability to see jobs in a given category across all regions, but

I don't know how anyone could argue they're under-resourced for the task of maintaining and improving a mature product. You mean Jeremy Cole, the guy you're arguing with, who led the effort at Google to standardize on Maria

Obvious troll is obvious. MySQL professional here. I'm quite pleased with Oracle's 5.5 and 5.6 releases, and feel that they're doing a pretty good job. While they've not been perfect stewards, I feel they have done bet

The DB won't require manual fixes. Losing a transaction that was committed upstream can lead to a bunch of manual fixes in replicated database clusters. What happens if rows inserted in that lost transaction are eventually updated?
