Yeah, I would - but I need dual external monitors and thunderbolt at the same time - forced to use the HDMI for one or buy a daisy chaining display. Sigh.

Microsoft have many of the same weaknesses though. The new Windows Modern UI apps or whatever they call it now are awful. Mail? Calendar? Wow. Even Outlook Express was better. And the new Settings app? Dear holy deity..

Horses for courses indeed. Mavericks is the pinnacle of Aqua for me. Beautiful, great typography, great affordances, a little bit of character.

Apple thinks my Dell U2410s are TVs when connected over HDMI, and uses YPbPr colour space, and some weird stuff because of it. There's no way to tell the OS that it's a monitor without using an EDID override, which is now extremel

Windows and OSX's unpredictability with time for updates to install is a key issue. Sometimes my machine can be down for 20-30 minutes, which as a developer completely ruins flow. So I put off any restarting update for as long as I can

Only if you use a single, concrete data model. If your domain supports the use of something like event sourcing, your "data model" is surprisingly easy to change. Or in this case, is = are, and data model = data models, and they&#

The best thing is that said a high end model of said T420s is more capable than, literally any 13" MacBook ever produced (with the notable exception of display quality). I'm not the biggest fan of the x20 series Thinkpads due to m

Indeed. But instead of gracefully transitioning like a sensible company would - i.e. slowly phasing the two together, teeing up alternatives for customers, giving plenty of advanced notice and warning etc, they've gone full nuclear. Pa

I really hope their customers completely abandon them. We have - switched to Sendy and SES for newsletters, and investigating what to do with our transactional emails. This sort of behaviour should be absolutely frowned upon, in any industr

Considering how good Mandrill's delivery was, I'd be surprised if this were the case. Even still, there are better solutions - cut the free tier off, for example!

They explicitly allowed customers to use Mandrill for any type of email, transactional or "bulk". They even used to note that you could build products that compete with MailChimp using Mandrill.

SES is pretty bare bones, and has had recurring issues with IP reputation management. It's well suited for integration but there are no straightforward simple APIs or dashboards as with Mandrill/SendGrid etc.

Yeah, this is a very big change in policy, and I suspect it might catch out Mandrill customers who don't read the fine print. The privacy policies for a couple of web applications I work with, for example, are incompatible with this ne

Based on their latest release of pricing information, I've done an old vs new pricing comparison. Hopefully no errors - the tiered pricing is more complex to calculate than a flat pricing. From what I understand, if your volume is i.e.

To be honest, the vague statements on pricing, blatant disregard for customers, and functionality from them have sealed the switch away for me. At least this crappy company has viable competitors. Imagine what we'd be saying if e.g. Ad

Can't see any good part of it, the worst for me is probably the massive price hike. Then there's the blatant disregard for customers...

They mentioned abuse of the free service as rationale - there are plenty of things they could have done to avoid this. Charge $1 for the free tier, for example. Massive slap in the face - we'll be reviewing our use of MailChimp for our

To respond to the Mailgun developer above slash below - the InboxTrail result might not be reflective of all your service, but you're selling a premium service - 37.5% spam flagging on any of your active IPs is seriously offputting.

Plenty of them give 1-star reviews for stuff like... lack of strain relief causing premature failures on cables. But yes, agreed (within reason - $19 for the MagSafe->2 converter is a little ridiculous).
