Steve thought of it as The Beatles model - the team should bring out the best in everyone around them. Look at how many people pushed back on him and made great things happen - the iTunes on Windows. The App Store on iOS. Etc etc

Considering all that I’ve had done, it might be hard to tamper him down. He might (wild speculation incoming) have thought of himself as equal to Steve and maybe he didn’t take it well to keep reporting to someone else. I mean he still spea

iOS had a ton of mistakes, not just trade offs. I understand that yeah, I didn’t figure them out myself, but just looking at the Nielsen Norman usability studies you could see there was a lot to be improved on (and they did, to their credit

If we weren’t hacking into Yandex, I’d be asking for new chiefs at the intelligence agencies who would. What the heck of the point of an agency if you’re not gathering intelligence?

From Daring Fireball speculation his move to Chief Design Officer was already a move for him to be distanced from day to day design. Sort of a soft firing already, but by moving him up.

As much as we can man-myth the man, he’s got one of the best design teams on the planet around him. Unless they all leave (and even if they do, they could replace them all with the second best design team in the world quickly as all industr

They’ve done enormous changes since 7 to improve it. 7 was absurd - buttons looked like simple text everywhere. I always had to toggle on a function where buttons became underlined so I could use the thing. There was huge criticism even in

I think it’s fine they made it this way but they still should have kept the ACTUAL Pro line - ie a more versatile machine. The new MacBook Pro’s just don’t cut it as much for professional applications as they used to (at least in my field o

The Mac Pro makes sense in a media production environment for very specific reasons. I work in filmmaking and motion design and you would sell your mother for that machine.

One can hope, but I’m sure his decisions were not based off design quirkiness entirely. Apple must have a department that shows people want thinner and thinner laptops and that’s what they aim for. Right?

Controversial opinion: Microsoft is making better hardware design decisions and better hardware design overall than Apple atm. It’s the software which continues to be the issue for me.

I have nothing but pure unadulterated love for my iPhone SE. I can’t imagine myself with a bigger phone and I’m just waiting for them to make a similar new model. Sometimes I wonder if they will though. I feel the same way about pre Touch B

True, particularly about double click, but is YouTube really a well managed acquisition? It seems to be a victim of Google’s schizo approach to product in the sense that every 12 months it seems to be following a new strategy or launching a

I see so I was mistaken about that. I still don’t understand why people don’t see that it would be trivial for a major bank (or now that Bitcoin has grown, a government) to look into making enough computational power they would destroy it.
