This is irrelevant. I'm simply stating that we don't have the teeth of a predator. I'm very surprised to be downvoted for this on HN where people take pride in their scientific awareness.

Thanks for your detailed response! > Keep in mind that the idea that animals are not fundamentally different from humans is a breathtakingly recent idea in human history. We haven’t yet all understood the proper moral conclusion from tha

But the steak was cut off from the corpse already. Have you tried biting through a cow hide with your teeth to get to that steak? The fish was already filleted with a knife etc.

In which important ways are animals different from humans? I'm not trolling, I'd like to see your perspective.

You believe that we have the teeth of a predator? That seems like a wild leap. Have you ever tried to eat the flesh off of an animal raw? I don't think your teeth or jaw would be capable. Where are your claws to aid you?

There's no physiological need for oil. Fat, yes. Oil is purely culinary.

You really are ignorant to the importance of fiber, then, and the negative health effects of consuming a substance without fiber (sugar over a fruit, analogous to cocaine over coca leaf). Fiber is incredibly beneficial to our microbiome and

You know that's fallacious logic, right? Olive oil is devoid of value in comparison to olives. It has no fiber and stripped of minerals and vitamins.

Sometimes it won't have the same taste, texture and nutrition [1] - but it's still worth switching. [1] one for one (cow burger vs plant burger) that is. Plant based diets can absolutely have the same net nutrition as a diet with

Replying to my own comment since it's too late to edit: I don't mean avoid fats, I mean avoid extracted fats. Oils lack fiber and much of the nutrition that the whole food has. I.e. eat olives over olive oil, avocados over avocado

That study compares different olive oils, not olive oil vs e.g. whole olives. Dr Greger's "How Not to Die" book explains how oils like olive oil are in general not good for the arteries.

I don't have the book at hand right now to cite exact pages, but Dr. Greger's "How Not to Die" has a much better explanation and cited sources on why one would want to avoid oils in favor of the whole plant source. Looki

Avoid oils in general. They're mostly devoid of nutrition (i.e. no fiber, lacking vitamins and minerals compared to the food source) and only contain fat https://youtu.be/LbtwwZP4Yfs

Found the vegan. Also, I'm vegan. Secondly, is every comment on HN perfectly on point and never tangentially related? No, many many popular threads are not directly related.
