BeaglePlay also has sub-1Ghz wireless, (along with 2.4Ghz programmable wireless), a PRU (essentially a built-in microprocessor suitable for realtime I/O work). The core processor supports CAN, and a bunch of other features, but I'

Because cost of entry is proportional to size of market. A narrow niche has a small market by definition, and a car has a large cost of entry, so cars with small niches are rare.

The biggest annoyance I have with old school forums is the single threaded nature of them. Reading through an entire 200 post thread to see if anyone actually responded to the one question that was asked in the third post is just incredibl

The algorithm learns by looking at contextual words around a given word. If a word is infrequent, there isn't enough context to span the space of possible contexts for the word, making it difficult for the algorithm to get a good idea

Citrus taxonomy is fascinating. Of all the citrus that we have, there are only three "natural" plants: the mandarin, pomelo and citron. Everything else is some cross between these: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki&

Equity is an ownership stake in a company, including an ownership of future profits. In some sense a company is promising in the future to return profits to shareholders. While the company is in a growth stage and healthy, that need to re

I don't think it is unfair. If you are looking to solve a timezone problem right now, then you care about what the standard interface is right now... not "when the library was created".

Start with pythons “projectdirs”, which refuses to allow mac systems to use XDG or at least have that option. https://github.com/platformdirs/platformdirs/issues/4

Except neither appdirs or platformdirs obey xdg on Mac, without an option to override. Which makes this less than ideal.

This sounds great. I'd love to have something like this within nix. Nix is great for full system management. Less so for something like python package management. Its lack of a dependency resolver or multiple versions of a package w

Fuel in ground tanks can be pumped out by manually pumping enough to power a generator to power the regular pumps... which is pretty trivial to set up.

I was as well, until I saw the Linus Tech Tips review of it: the drivers are (were?) missing support for some Titan optimizations -- the Titan RTX significantly beat the 3090 for a few benchmarks. If the card doesn't have these optimi

I mean the Microsoft Store charges 30% for games, Google play is 30%, Steam is 30%, I'm sure there are app stores I'm not thinking of that charge 30%. It seems to be the industry standard App Store cut.

Yea, and no metric stays hidden forever if there is enough money in it getting unhidden. Statistical metrics have some of the benefits of hidden metrics while staying "hidden" forever, but they also can be much more time consuming
