I can't speak for everyone. But I definitely think that a lot of people are put off by buying a house next to a Beware of Dog guy even though they know that one could move in tomorrow. Also, in California, a lot of people are in neighb

Sure, these houses exist everywhere, but most people avoid buying houses next to them. If Zillow bought such a house they’d take a loss to unload it unless they baked it into their model.

This neighbor has external signals of the kind of person he is.

Two covered cars in the driveway, bushes growing out halfway into the sidewalk, house in disrepair, taller than allowed fencing with Beware of Dog signs, it’s sometimes not hard to spot someone you don’t want to live next to.

Totally. There’s a surly creep who lives on our street and the houses next to his are worth less because of that. But Zillow would never know that.

When we were looking for a house we rejected many because of the “wrong sort” of neighbor, ascertained entirely (and possibly erroneously) without meeting them. I doubt Zillow can model that with public data.

Looks like it's for industrial processes so it probably doesn't matter how loud it is. Like photographing the inside of a storage tank for defects, where you won't get a reliable GPS signal (or likely any other RF).

Yes, because the movie industry has made it pretty hard to pirate. You can certainly do it but it's not nearly as easy as it was in the Napster days. Even the entire concept of a torrent is a lot for many people to grasp.

AWS is a luxury product and the outbound charge is the delivery fee. You will also find that the delivery fee for a Louis Vuitton bag is more than for a pizza.

Yes, but you can only do this because the industry has used the courts to squash things like Napster.

Nobody is going to make a $50 million movie for $12 of revenue from the first customer who then pirates it to the rest of the world. The end outcomes here are 1) Piracy remains manageable in scale 2) Production costs go down tremendously an

I think the laws need revising on the issue of “visible from a public space” because of the technology available today. I’m OK with people being photographed on the street but not through their bedroom window with a 600mm lens from half a m

“What employees want” isn’t really relevant. I’m sure employees also want 10x the salary. What matters is 1) can they use their brand, their balance sheet, their luxury office, or other parameters to maintain the workforce of the size and s

There's also the very small market for the drug. There's a lot of administrative and logistics cost in making a drug available on the market. If they could sell 1,000 doses a year they would have found a price that worked.

I consider Roberts a liberal for a case like this so I think the court is 5-4 now and if Breyer doesn’t retire before 2022 (when Republicans are 99% likely to take the Senate) it will be 5-3 until there’s a Republican President.

I don’t disagree with the idea of “building” with friends but over the history of civilizations, humans find the most meaning in building families and communities. So, yes, build with friends, but think “village” and not “SaaS.”
