My understanding is that you may have taken a lot of equity in exchange for salary, so much so that you literally can't afford to exercise any significant portion of the options.

Why can't you exercise and move on? Are you an early employee with lots of equity at a low strike price and a low enough salary that you can't pay the tax to exercise? Are you risk averse and don't want to pay to exercise unt

If you are lucky enough to live in an area with any kind of competition, choose them over the incumbents. You should choose them even of they provide worse speeds or less comprehensive customer service. Ideally you should choose a fully ind

My rental agreement (in a 4-storey apartment building) in SF forbids me from subletting (without consent), or from having overnight guests for more than N days a year. Are most other rental agreements more lax or do many Airbnb hosts operat

They're a very niche interest for experienced investors. Experienced investors who are crowding for the doors based on the ups & downs of the market? Sounds pretty amateur to me.

No, it's a reason not to panic-sell when there is fear mongering. Or better yet stay out of equities in the first place if you're worried about the value of your fund ever declining.

I haven't seen many stop to give consideration to how Northern Ireland will have to deal with the fallout of this. I don't doubt that there was thought behind Leave votes, but many of them seem to ignore NI. Hopefully the peace pr

My friends recommend signing up for the Nexus program to facilitate speedy crossings. As I understand it you are effectively re-applying for your TN at every re-entry and could be rejected. That said, my friends all go back to Canada many t

I went to the US first to get my TN, before returning to London, UK where we were living. We then applied at the US Embassy for my wife's "pre-TD" if you will. The consular officer there told her she was approved and would ge

Yeah we had to apply for permission for my wife to enter the US to ask for her TD status. It was supposed to take 7 days but we are still waiting.

I'm in a similar situation, except Canadian. Did it take you 6 months to get your wife's TD status? I applied for my wife back in March and we are still waiting for her TD (she is not Canadian). :(

You distrust Scottish politicians to run a Scottish Parliament, but you trust English politicians to run Scotland?

I listened to a MoneyBox radio programme about this. The "financial expert" said that it was effectively a tax-deferral program, just like a pension plan. Any gains inside the fund were tax free until the money was brought back in

I've seen London rental advertisements list weekly prices as a way to conceal their cost, but I've never heard of anyone taking payments weekly. Do council-provided flats have weekly bills?

Arguably it was largely workers performing R&D inside of the US which resulted in the creation of these products. So there is at least a bunch of income, payroll, property taxs, etc. paid already inside of the US. Now, if the company we

It's probably a marginal issue, but would decreased living costs reduce salaries? Presumably if living costs were lower companies could pay less while still offering a higher net-income than other areas. I guess what I'm asking is

I'm not aware of the CRA disallowing you from doing business in USD/EUR/GBP? And you can open bank accounts in those currencies right inside of Canada (have done it myself for GBP, USD).

I would argue the lower salaries are for societal reasons (health care, cheaper university tuition, etc) more so than Europeans coming to work in the UK. Consider AmaGoogBookSoft salaries in London: lower but not scandalously so.
