An open S3 bucket is a huge red flag that this feels state manufactured. Most people aligned with this protest probably possess the technical chops to know to do better.

I think it's not the worst thing in the world for there to be visual elements inspired by the 2nd Amendment. If nothing else, it puts pressure on the government and shows that many free thinkers have solidarity with Canadians.

All most programmers will need is a classic for-loop. For of, forEach and any other kind of iterator is really not necessary and adds to the language bloat that just confuses less experienced developers.

Agreed 100%. I personally plan to homeschool my own kids with the skills and values I believe will lead them to success in future life: piety, virtousness and a practical skill in the trades. There has been a big shift towards PC culture an

I think it would be possible to build an even faster, more robust solution with plain HTML, CSS and a Rails / PHP server on the backend. The less propagation of JavaScript, the better.

It's a good thing we're not building solutions for business problems on paper then.

That's why we proudly don't integrate with any third-parties at all, and all of our stuff is developed and hosted in-house. Even "trivial" things like email or billing.

Agreed completely. In terms of the absolute worst piece of technology, there have been no applications that have even been shipped successfully with it, and every developer who uses it is probably encountering some form of s=Stockholm syndr

Agreed. Most sites don't even need JS, and for those that do, they'd be far better off with a desktop application.

I've worked in 4 different software shops over the last 15 years. My general observation is the developers who rely on heavily automated/magic tooling are significantly outclassed by those who use the terminal + a basic text edito

... yes? I've often been ridiculed for wanting to build everything in-house, but events like these just validate that sometimes, to get the most reliable and best software, you'll have to reinvent the wheel a few times.

Perhaps tangential, but it still astounds me how Americans scoff whenever I mention that we have floor drains in Australian bathrooms. "What, is your bathroom a locker room or something? snicker ". Setting aside how it helps with

Agree 100%. Moving off an IDE fixed my impostor syndrome and instantly made all my code more readable and maintainable. Even my manager has commented on how much profit our team is generating ever since we moved to text editors.

Modern web development has gone off the rails. Old-school website design was far superior, where we just used the styling provided for us and a trickle of CSS for some simple layout and colors. It's absurd that box-shadow even exists,
