On my case I have 4500Wp of panels. The inverter is sized at 4200W. The next step up 4800 or 5200 was twice as expensive adding about €600. Not sure if I ever would have made that back. I hit the maximum only a few weeks in spring.

Because, Espresso is a life elixer? But seriously. As the article says, there are other needs for having high pressure hot water. The learnings from this can be used elsewhere. As the siblings said, it can also have been paid for by Lavazza

How so? We have open source operating systems running on a whole sleuth of systems ages apart. Interesting ideas and open collaboration coming out of the OS world. This opposed to closed off “products” that change at the whims of the compan

This argument goes even further. If you have only 3 settings, why does it need to be an xml file?

Re 2, I would generally agree and there is a lot that can be done with caching. However, since writing services in Rust and Golang, there is whole other tier in speed. Architecture matters, code quality also matters, but Golang and Rust hel

Many downloads now go over https. Intercepting them would require having certificate for those domains. IIRC on the clouds the standard images do have a sources list that points to mirrors on the cloud’s network. I would only presume Github

And yet I see in earnings that companies like BP and Shell make record profits over increased gas prices. How come that they do profit but the station holders not? Are shell/bp increasing the margin harder and eating the station’s lunc

The covers were typically flimsy and used flimsy hooks in addition to the flimsy push pin. Actually most of my annoyance stems from the hooks breaking easily and the covers not closing flush. I would not want to return to that time where dr

That had me thinking as well. What if the manufacturer says that to get to that number you are only allowed to charge it to 80% ever? My iPhone pro battery is at 92% at 417 cycles over 20 months.

My initial reaction as an EU citizen is “oh hell no” because it gave me flashbacks to removable covers with clips that broke my nails. But after reading the article where it mentions that the battery is also considered removable if standard

This reminds me of the time where I was in a rental Ford S-Max. I had the cruise control turned on while approaching an Italian toll booth station. The car very enthusiastically steered me into another car running next to me because it saw

Power tools are getting Bluetooth now. I saw a Festool battery operated sander where you could set the settings for the light on it and more via the app on your phone.

For what it is worth, you can turn the pop-up to navigate to the closest fuel station off. In my XC90 MY16 it is called something “Suggest navigation on low fuel.” I will check it when back in the car.

If “we” can do it, the original author should also be able to do it. However, I’m not sure whether the MIT license is enough to waive intellectual property in all jurisdictions, meaning that some contributions are still owned by the contrib

Eh sure. But you can always collect/carry decisions in something like an Either. When using arrows or your own monadic bindings it is even possible to abstract this away from view.

Sure you want logging and tracing (in the RPC sense not Debug.Trace.trace). Most of this can still be done from IO places where the pure functions collect enough error information bubbling up (e.g. content and line/col of parser errors

You could wrap it in an unsafeIO function to make it return `()` again. However, I’ve had very little use of printing for debugging. In Haskell you write small (ish) and pure functions that you can test extensively with property based tes

So. If we fix that loophole we both get proper tax revenue and we get to fund OSS better. I say win-win. Although it will be hard to implement in practice.

For me the sad part about the story is that someone who clearly knows what they are doing wasn’t able to find a job that would have permitted him to continue working on the project and that there were insufficient sponsors from companies. N

Okay. Sure. But why do we notice that on 10GbaseT and on 1? Is there some signal processing which is exponentially expensive at faster speeds? I’ve seen cards using 25W per port.

Is the energy consumption inherent to 10Gbase-T? Or is it that 1Gbit nics have been around forever and optimised ad infinitum? To be fair, the power consumption is also my biggest gripe with my WiFi 6 AP, they run extremely hot.

Great. So we got EU laws to mandate USB-C chargers and then get manufacturers that flaunt the spirit of the law by rejecting lower wattages.
